Hey guys, I've finally published the first iteration of my Glossary of Ostomy Terms, which you can find HERE.

I'll be updating it regularly, but let me know if there are any terms that I've missed or you'd like to see up there.

Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate.

Eric,

That looks fantastic! I wish I had had the benefit of it when I was first learning how this all goes.  And, it is useful now even two years out from my surgery. Great job.

P.S....you had me at Barbie Butt!

Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012. Subtotal colectomy with illiostomy July 2015; Peristomal hernia repair ( Sugarbaker, mesh, laparoscopic) May 2017.

Thanks, Dona :)

I will be adding more content, and I'm toying with the idea of including photos to illustrate certain terms better - I have to balance between usability/page loading speed and usefulness.

And yes, more slang terms will be included ;)

This is great, thanks. A few others that you may want to include...

- Anastomosis

- Mucus - many people (particularly colostomates) suffer from this and may need to use glycerin suppositories to help get it out

- Hernia (parastomal, incisional and perineal)

- Fistula (bladder, vagina, abdominal) plus the good mucus fistula (formed by the surgeon to allow mucus to leave the body)

- Adhesions

- Stoma cap - great for covering a mucus fistula

Out of interest, do you work? Veganostomy must be almost a full time job. It is appreciated by many 😎

Great list. I have a few of them on my todo list anyway, but those are definitely important.

Yes, I work full-time. Veganostomy keeps me busy enough to consider it my "second job" 😂

Hi All, in the forums I have noticed a term/phase/problem that is mentioned. Hostile output! now by the name i know its output that plays havoc with the wafer, but is it different foods that are the cause or something with the persons output in general.
