I know that not every ostomate uses barrier rings, and those who do tend to find that some are (much) better than others.

Which work best for you?

Hollister Adapt Cera Ring

I need to try those! Have you used the regular Adapt barrier rings before the Cera Rings?

Yes, I used the regular Adapt rings. I really have no complaints about them. I like the idea of the ceramide in the new rings and they seem to not melt as quickly as the regular Adapt ones.

I found the Nu-Hope rings work best for me... I use the BBraun Flexima 3S 2 piece set up and tried several different rings, but the Nu-Hope really work great for me. They turtle neck right up around my Stoma nicely and wear slowly with the barrier plate.  Nice combo!!   Anyone else tried the Nu-Hope rings?

Curoius to hear what others have experienced with the 'Trio' products! I have read they work great!!  What is it that makes them so unique?    I have some samples coming to give them their fair shake of a try, but if someone has tried them, how did they work for ya??    Thanks!!

I'm glad the Nu-Hope rings work for you @Gimparoo!  I may have tried a sample at some point - I don't honestly recall how it worked for me, but I have tried the Trio rings.

Trio rings are silicone, so they DO NOT "melt".  These would be the perfect barrier ring, but I found that they don't stick very well to my skin.  Now, that could be more about my skin not liking the products rather than the products not working properly, but I'd have to try them again to know for sure.

If you can get your hands on some, I would at least see how they work - if they stick, then they should offer phenomenal resistance to erosion.

Thanks for the input...  I guess some 'Skin-Tac' wipes would possibly help with getting them to set better under my base plate(?)!! I'll give them a try and let ya know how they work out.  Thanks Eric

I don't think so in my case. For some reason, my skin doesn't work well with silicone products - any type. And I've personally found that using extra products never ends well for me in one way or another :(

I tried the Trio brand, and I have to agree with Eric. They did not stick to my skin, which left the potential of leakage issues. They did send me an additional product to help the ring stick, but I think when you are dealing with skin health, less is more.

Margie,

Thank you kindly for your input... it will give me a baseline idea to work with as I try the samples they send me.   I'm pleased with what I am using, but always willing to try something new if it is going to extend my appliance life.

...and I too have found less is more, I was thinking aloud on what may help them stick so I can actually get the best trial of the product!

I'm interested to know what they sent you to help it stick. I don't recall receiving anything like that, but I tried their products quite a while ago.

http://trioostomycare.com/product-range/silken-stoma-gel/

The company rep suggested that I apply this product then place the ring over top of it....it was a goopy mess.

That's surprising. Silken isn't an adhesive :o

Coloplast just came out with a new ring that is advertised not to melt away and leave residue behind. I ordered a few samples and wore each ring for 7 days and it came off very well and left nothing behind to clean up. So far this is the best ring as far as clean up or lack of I have used.

I just tried to order samples off the website, but a bug in the form is keeping me from getting them ordered!!  So, I'll wait till Monday and call, looks like it's a pre-order for US patients, but I'm curious to see how well they will work with my setup. Thanks for the input...

Hopefully, you're able to get them soon. Coming from the moldable rings, you should notice some big improvements.
