Is it normal for output from my subtotal colostomy to be affected when sick? I am having combination of regular stool and some thick diahrrea. I have never been this sick with head cold, coughing and chest cold. Saw my doctor, lungs are clear and oxygen level was good. So Bronchitis was ruled out. She prescribed a cough medicine for me to take at night. I have had my flu and RSV shots a few weeks ago. Hi Jillian, Yes it’s gonna gonna have an effect on your output. With a cold or flu we all lose more liquids and it’s important to drink to make that up. Also medication may have an impact as well. Hope you’re feeling better soon.🤗 ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Echoing what @john68 said, this is common. I was sick nearly all of last month and into January... something like five weeks. And my output was affected for at least the first three weeks (where I wasn't able to eat much). Gas also became a problem and my bag was ballooned far more than normal. I hope you're feeling better soon! Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Yes, all the time! As soon as something new creeps into this weakened immuned body it does its own thing. I have been struggling with Pleurisy since before Christmas & I have found I'm eating differently with it & then ofcourse the meds too as said above make a huge difference. Even if you find food untasty, at least always try to Hydrate well. I too hope your feeling better by now or at least soon! Linda Hi Linda , Sorry to hear yer going through all that. We have a saying here in Norn Iron. It’s a creaky gate that hangs the longest. Please don’t be offended as it means that no matter how much illness you go through yer gonna be going on for a long time.👍 And Eric hope you’re feeling better soon 🤗 ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns @john68 ... Thank you! I actually see the humor in that & I do appreciate the interesting encouragment! Lolol... my older sister says I'm hard to kill ! I do tend to agree, this body has a lot of mileage on it in challenging ways! I may not always feel as strong as I want to be but I sure have a few things down pat. Being patient with healing & healing. I eventually get there! So far anyways...lolol Linda
