At the start I wondered what will I be able to do now! well over the years the answer is any thing you want. yes we have to be very careful that we don,t do something silly, we have limits but that's something we get in life any way as we get older! I can tell any ostomate new or old I have done more with one than without. Eric has been very clever in the construction of this site, yes we have the forum to share experience and advice but look at ALL the site, not only is it product reviews it showing us through personal experience what we can do. Just go to the heading "MORE" and click on PERSONAL BLOG, At the start it will be baby steps but when we enjoy life we will enjoy our stoma. ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns As Ostomates we face many challenges! But the best way of over coming those is doing our best to live each day to the fullest we can, The videos Eric has done showing the events and trips he has taken part in should inspire this. We don't have to be sky diving and the last place ye would ever get me would be on a Roller Coaster!! but it showing the freedom it has given the guy! to do what he enjoys and enjoyment comes in many forms. Zvitusk you help out by delivering meals brilliant that's pay back for you and rewarding. being well enough to enjoy your family that rewarding, it comes in many forms. ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns PS in Northern Ireland we have one Roller Coaster, the BIG DIPPER at Barrys in Portrush, slipping getting out of the bath would probably get yer heart racing more LOL. ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns One of the benefits of helping others is that, for the moment, you aren't needy. Being on the giving side of life is so satisfying. This! And helping others can be as simple as holding a door for the person behind you.  Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. This! And helping others can be as simple as holding a door for the person behind you.  Metaphorically & Literally. Personal note: My husband and I are off to New Zealand on the 29th. I will let everyone know how the long haul flight goes .. 14 hours. This will be my fourth trip by air since my ostomy and I am looking forward to it more that the others as I am much more comfortable in 'my new skin'. Thanks to this site and everyone's help. I figure my main thing while flying is to drink enough water! .. no one really understands but you guys just how much is necessary. If I don't post again until I am back, I wish a wonderful new year to you all. I return in three weeks. Eric..I know this is off topic! Beg forgiveness, be well).  Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012. Subtotal colectomy with illiostomy July 2015; Peristomal hernia repair ( Sugarbaker, mesh, laparoscopic) May 2017. That's a trip to look forward too, the very best and safe journey ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Hey John I have to say I agree with you again Lad . I like the way you phrased it "living with a stoma" it is so true . I was reluctant to get mine at first but afterwards things have gotten a lot better . I am like you I'll not be jumping out of a plane anytime soon (actually you would have a hard time throwing me out) and am not a fan of roller coasters either . My freedom and relaxation has for years been riding my motorcycle . Before everything started me my wife and some friends would ride as much as 200 miles for lunch and then turn around and ride 200 miles back home . All came to a stop before I got my Norman but now we're back on not quite like we used to but at least because of Norman we are able to go again . Hence "living with a stoma" You couldn't have said it better ! And I try to help others as I can how ever it may be like Eric said even opening a door its the little things can make a difference . Proctectomy , Ileostomy , Ulcerative Colitis Thanks for the Bon Voyage, John. I guess South Island New Zealand is the home of adventure sports! Yikes.. we won't be bungee jumping, thats for sure. Driving on the 'wrong' side of the road might be exciting enough. Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012. Subtotal colectomy with illiostomy July 2015; Peristomal hernia repair ( Sugarbaker, mesh, laparoscopic) May 2017. Dona Happy New Year to you and safe travels ! Have a great time ! Thanks Eric..I do feel good. And ( like you, I suspect) I never get bored! 19 hours must be about as long as flights get.. and we would love to travel to South Africa. At least we are headed to summer ( not that its so bad here in San Diego). Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012. Dona, when I was in Air Line (United) school, they told us that drinking water is very important as being up in the air dehydrates you and will age us earlier.. So, Ostomates, if and when you do travel by air-- Drink more!! 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie..
