So, this has happened to me before, back when I was eating broccoli sprouts. I stopped eating sprouts because I would get little pellets in my output, about an inch long and as big around as a pencil. I haven't had any for months but recently I have been finding them again. Has anyone ever experienced this and have any idea what's going on?

Thanks,

Marci

Hi Marci,

Is it possible that these pellets are the capsules from a vitamin or medication you might be taking?

Hey Marci...yes, I have had that happen when my guts are processing quickly. Hard vitamins are the usual culprit, and certain medications. Now that l know it happens, unless it is a time released pill, I will crush it down. Always check with your pharmacist first "even for vitamins", to be sure you can crush them.

Safety first when it comes  to medications and equally so for vitamins. If this happens frequently you should let your doctor know.  They can prescribe it in different forms  for you.  Also, if processing time is an issue,  watch your weight during these times too. If your loosing weight let them know.

I hope you can figure it out. Stay safe and keep us In the loop.  All the best!  😷

A thought I've had, is could it be linked to fluid intake?

Sometimes the output can vary between soft and mushy to hard and pellet like? the odd thing I have noticed is things don't always come out in the order they went in.

output will vary in consistency depending on type of ostomy and the foodstuff sometimes a couple of days on a low residue diet makes a difference.

any wind or bloating discomfort or pain?

Thank you everyone for your replies! I hadn't considered that it could be a medication or supplement.

I think I will do an experiment with a probiotic capsule that may be the culprit. I'm going to stop taking it for several days and see what happens.

(This particular issue doesn't seem to include bloating or gas.)

Thanks again,

Marci

Please let us know if you concluded it was the capsules :)
