Hi everyone. Lately the skin around my stoma is very dry when I do a bag change. Like really flaky dry. I don’t do anything special for my stoma, just flange and bag. Any ideas on how to deal with dry skin under your flange? Thanks much. Ulcerative Colitis (1995) Hi Glen, The Adapt Cera ring is soothing to the skin (it feels good). I think that Eric mentioned in a post that he has used one when his skin needs some extra love. LL Colostomy 4/30/18. Hi Glenn This is my trial and error system for dry skin under the flange. I always take "naked" showers so if you are okay with that, after I remove pouch, I apply a good amount of CereVe moisture cream all over the area and let it absorb then shower as usual without washing area around stoma until the very end. That way it has a good amount of time to absorb the cream, moisture and warmth from the shower. Then I wash really well with Ivory soap to remove all cream. I've also used coconut oil and it worked too but the CereVe has extra healing ingredients. Hope you find a good solution! 54 years Type 1 Diabetes, insulin pump, CGM, neurological complications, retinopathy, and autoimmune CIDP. Nerve damage led to ileostomy in 1/2015. @jattzl Thanks! I love showering bagless on change days. I’ll give the CeraVe a try. Thanks for answering! Ulcerative Colitis (1995) @llholiday Thanks. I have a bunch of those from when I was in the hospital. I stopped using them as soon as my stoma healed after surgery. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. I’ll put one on next bag change to see how that helps. Thanks again! Ulcerative Colitis (1995) I’ll put one on next bag change to see how that helps. Let us know how that goes. All of the Hollister "Cera" line is designed to help with dry skin. In fact, I had to stop using their Ceraplus wafers at some point because I needed my skin to be drier! Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate.
