Good Day all. Have a curiosity question. Just got my mail in poop check from cancer canada. Curious as  to how many out there still send their's in. Or do you just toss them.

I've never heard of that! Is it something you request, or did it just come in the mail unsolicited?

Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate.

Way back in 2019 I opted for the ‘Poop Test’ as my spouse was critically ill. It was negative. One year later I began my horrendous battle against Stage 3 anal cancer. If you are due for testing please go with the ‘Gold Standard’ colonoscopy.

@Vegan. The test is a standard that comes from the Canadian Cancer Society every couple of years. Me I just keep an eye on things. If something doesn't seem right, get it checked.

I’m Canadian too, and I had cancer diagnosed in 2015. Since then, I’ve never had the poop on a stick test sent to me. That test only picks up on blood in the fecal matter; you could still have a tumour that would not be detected unless it is bleeding. My guess is that the test was sent to you by mistake. It’s up to you whether you do it or not, but after a cancer diagnosis, I sure wouldn’t put much faith in it. Hopefully you’re on a colonoscopy schedule.

in the US it is not reccomended for people who have had cancer,  in a high risk group or family members who have had cancers.

I used to get those from one hospital I used to go to but my other hospital just died colonoscopy. Now that I have an ileostomy and my colon is gone I guess I won’t have to worry about it any longer.
