@chris....If I may chime in.... First time poster, second time ileostomy... first one (Jake) was an outie. New one, as of July 27, an innie ( Cousin Larry). What I have noticed is that I need convexity for the new one. My drawback.... feeling like someone is sitting on me. I'm trading the pressure for the leaks, blowouts and constant laundry. So far.... so good.... I have been there, done that and doing this again!!!✌️ @chris I listed a bunch of convex products earlier I saw your response and please know all these companies are happy to send you samples. Typically with convexity a Wcon or your surgeon. But really wcon should advise you and if you order you need an rx rx that. I did . Also while your stoma sticks out 3/4 inch it reminds me of how mine was. And it retracts often so your stoma will sneak under hence the leaks. The other possibility also an issue for me still is my belly is so uneven despite being thin from so many surgeries. What I have learned is Hollister's mechanism if action is to melt down. Coloplast and convatec tend to expand. I would seriously try marlen. No bells or whistles but you won't feel like you are even wearing anything. I was allergic and suffered through.also convexity can cause pressure ulcers if it's too hard (hence marlen) and also why it's determined by a wcon. My wcon also gives out free samples. The companies all want your orders and again a few are very generous. Also for samples you will speak w a wcon at many of the companies or knowledge able folks so if you explain things they will be able to guide you. Eric is the pro and knows way more than me. It's also possibly either you can figure out or have a wcon fit you as often it's important flat device especially that you fill in divets etc. Just my experience hence I listed what I use etc in other response. Feel your pain trust me. Good luck I appreciate all the info. The post was 3 years ago. I have since gone through the hell of changing three time a day for months and then solved all those issues and can go 4 days now. Things are good, all things considered. Thanks Chris . like I have said before these things should come with better owner's manuals Thanks Dona that gave me a good laugh It reminds me of when dad's are handed a new baby their completely lost without a owners manual. Post Emergency surgery we are in the same spot. Arggh a stoma and a strange nappy (bag) with all the wind, belching, crying and S*it. I have with my permanent stoma a bulge above and a dip below especially when I bend. The nurse tried me with a convex wafer (i feel it was uncomfortable and put pressure on my stoma effecting output) So I went to a flat wafer and at the moment cutting section of barrier ring and stacking them beneath the stoma it works too an extent but the ring suffer the melting allowing some leakage onto the skin under the wafer. I'm going to try the barrier strips and or barrier seals when I can get some samples (covid delay's). As I see it they don't manufacture a half flat and half convex wafer too specialist a solution? I'm interested in others solution and experiences. Colostomy Jan 2020 @chris....If I may chime in.... First time poster, second time ileostomy... first one (Jake) was an outie. Thanks Chris The old ones are the best ones ;-) Actually pulling up an old post proves we all can have similar experiences at different times also we get to know how they work long term Chris Can you tell us what is your eventual solution. glad to know you've achieved "go 4 days" its encouraging to know dispite all the difficulties you can with patience, effort and knowledge get there Another Chris :-D Colostomy Jan 2020 @chrisandbagpus. I didn't mean to rehash as old post... This is what Dr Google pulled up when I inquired about my ostomy situation. I will say the convex ones are holding....18 hours so far!!!

Hi
If I may chime in
I have tried every ostomy convex pouch or ring. Hollister ring I found too hard and created potential ulcers. This is the order of best to least convexity in terms of depth and flexibility.
Marlen . Very very flexible and soft or comes in shallow or deep convexity. I was in 3-4 years until revised for other reasons. They are generous with samples and don't call you or bug you.
NuHope will even make custom
Hollister has a 2 piece with convexity that's best in terms of flexibility. The 1 1/4 2PC is 14906 and 1 PC t think 8994 don't quote me.
2pc same convexity 1 1/4 is made w Cera plus gentle on skin but think melts a tad faster and same size (my size so know the numbers) is 11906 which also has floating flange it's so new often on short back order. The floating great as when you snap pouch on there's a nice space to click without hitting your body
Convatec has one also I think called natura inforget
Coloplast has the sensura mio. Many love I didn't.
What I do is use the Hollister 2 piece (or one) for convexity and use a cut Hollister 4x4 into a ring around stoma or a 7805 moldable ring (every company has those ) if you need more convexity what I do is take convatec strips 15 in a box maybe called strip paste? Any I file in half length wise and put sound stoma. They give me more time as they expand vs melt down.
Hollister is so generous w samples like marlen and they don't call and bug you or make you wait for a nurse
Call the Hollister starter kit number . They are great.
Good luck and if you have questions or there are typos lmk.
Eric knows I've been thru hell and back even tried European products
