I had my second operation 2 month ago and the doctor told me I had only 1 meter left (small intestine). This cause a very fast transit and probably malabsorption. I barely keep my weight which was very low after the operation and still is after 7 weeks:120 lbs! And I can’t seem to put my weight up to where it was before which was 140 lbs. Even if I take Imodium. Scary...Same for energy which is way lower than before. Anyone? I know that Linda (LK) has mentioned having short gut and has suffered from malabsorption as a result. Hopefully she will check in soon. I know she hasn’t been feeling great lately. @dlfiretruck -Liza Raspout66...Yes, I'm here. I'm 10 years in with what was referred to by my doctor as "short , short" gut syndrome and still kicking loud and clear. If you have any particular questions ask away and I'll do my best to help you thru this difficult situation. Three important things you may need to know. What is your Cholesterol level, Ferritin and Hemoglobin levels? I'll explain later. Sorry I can't at this moment but I'll be back....Linda Linda Short Bowel Syndrome is likely more common than we may see online, but I'm sure there are other members who are going through the same. We have one member (Marcie) @shulmjs who was taking/is taking a medication called GATTEX to help with absorption. I have a friend who is also on it, and it may be something to talk to your doctor about if you already haven't. It may help to get your weight back up as it allows people with SBS to better absorb nutrients. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate.
