On my quest to replace commercially packaged food with homemade, I was hoping to find a vegan cheese recipe that would work well with pizza.

And I found it! The "Melty Stretchy Gooey Vegan Mozzarella" recipe from It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken is quite amazing.

We've put it on several pizzas already, and had them on some homemade burritos last night.

It's gooey, but doesn't melt. I'll probably look for a different recipe if I want cheese that melts, but this works great and on pizza you end up biting into these delicious globs 😀

Wow Eric, thanks for this! I have all the ingredients already, so I’m looking forward to trying this. I appreciate that it is fairly low in fat, (I need to be careful about my fat intake) especially compared to dairy cheese.

@tigerlily Enjoy! We've been making a lot of recipes lately, mostly to cut down on our grocery expenses. Vegan cheese was one thing that I thought we'd never be able to replace, especially since we make pizza at home every weekend. I'm really happy with this one!

We'll likely try others, as there are quite a few! But this one is so easy and quick to make.

We also made a "mac and cheese" powder from the same website, and that can be stored dry until it's needed. Tried it yesterday and it was great! For the plant-based milk needed to complete the mac and cheese recipe, we've been making our own almond milk! Can't get easier (or cheaper) than that! 😆

@veganostomy well this is definitely a “keeper “. I just made a batch, tried it with crackers and sprinkled various different spices on each. The TexMex is my favourite. This would be perfect on nachos. I could serve this at a party and no one would know there was no cheese in it. Thanks for passing this on to us. 👍 I will look up the mac&cheese recipe too.

OK, I’m now using this as a sandwich spread as well, and I like it much more than mayo. Somebody stop me before I start putting it in an IV drip! 😵‍💫
