I had been invited to speak in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA as part of a patient event called P2PEP (Patient 2 Patient Education Project) on Saturday, April 16, 2016. The event was hosted by the University of Michigan IBD Team and was led by Dr. Peter Higgins.
First Trip with an Ostomy! Cape Town, South Africa (w/ video)
Between March 13-16th, 2016 I was able to take my first flight in over 20 years. It was not only my first flight in decades, but it was my first time traveling with an ostomy and as a vegan.
In this post, I’ll be detailing my experience, as well as explain why I was even in South Africa!
Talking About My Ostomy: WCET 2016 Presentation (w/video)
Here is the presentation I gave at the B. Braun breakfast symposium during the WCET conference on March 15, 2016.
I spoke in front of over 150 people (mostly stoma nurses!) about the various phases I went through from diagnosis to recovery. It was so awesome to be up there, and the feedback I’ve received has been so positive.

The World Council of Enterostomal Therapists (WCET) will be hosting their international conference in Cape Town, South Africa this March 13-16th.
2015 – My Personal Year in Review
Another year is has passed, and what a year it’s been!
It still amazes me that so much can get done in so little time, and 2015 was no exception! Much of the hard work that went into VeganOstomy in 2014 has started to pay off, and this year has a lot to show for the efforts.
