There’s a group of ostomate who love decorating their pouches; Be it with patterned duct tape or pouch covers. I haven’t ventured into any DIY projects (at least not yet), but I love seeing what others make for themselves. I came across a photo of a nice looking ostomy pouch cover on Twitter that caught my attention.
Happy Stomaversary! My First Year With an Ostomy
August 21, 2014: It’s hard to believe that a year ago today I was at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto having my colon removed and getting it replaced with an ileostomy.
How I Use Evernote to Manage My IBD
Managing a chronic illness can be daunting. Keeping track of medication, medical history, a symptom diary, a food log, prescription receipts or important articles can get out of control pretty fast, so if you were to ask me for a single solution to keep this chaos in order, I’d tell you it’s Evernote. I don’t want the following post to sound like an ad; I just want to share with you how I’ve used this software to manage my Crohn’s Disease and my ostomy. I really, REALLY love Evernote!
My ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Video and Thoughts (w/ video)

Giveaway Winner Announcement + Question

Safe n’ Simple Ostomy Pouch Deodorant – REVIEW
I contacted Safe n’ Simple (SNS Medical) after reading about their barrier rings on a forum. Unfortunately, the rings contain gelatin (animal product), so I passed on those and instead requested samples of their Safe n’ Simple deodorants (which are vegan).
They sent me several sachets of both their lubricating deodorant gel and the regular deodorant drops. I’ll cover both in this review.
Depression, Suicide and IBD
The death of Robin Williams in 2012 has sent shock waves through social media. If you had to name one actor who fits the word “funny” or “happy”, it would probably be him.
When Censorship Becomes Discrimination
Something happened recently that really angered me. One of the founders of the #GetYourBellyOut campaign, Sahara (Twitter @Sahara88uk) had recently come out of surgery, and while still recovering she posted a photo of herself on several social media sites, but the photo was flagged on Facebook and she was forced to remove it.
Here is the photo, which I’m proud to display on this blog:
