Linda, U had emergency surgery because of a blockage? You poor thing!! How did that go?  Did they try to move it?  I went onetime by ambulance for a blockage-the ambulance people team wanted to give me pain drugs, but I said that I wanted to wait until the Dr. got things straight before that. I did O.K. and kept over night-  They all remembered me because of my full name-- said that I looked different than when I was there before (I was half dead for 4 months) and they were pleased  to see that I surived - "you were soooo SICK!! they said.. "I was that bad huh? I asked.. So that part was nice to see the Doctors that were treating me during that ordeal.. 

What is the asprin deal about??????? 

Brabara, that was stella--( I like the name of Stella- I am going to name my next cat that.. Boy or girl.. Stellaaaaaaaaaaaa.   I get cats that r about to go into the s.p.c.a. )

MyK---------,(what is your first name again?) From the time I came home after 6 months of dying and comma, surgery and rehab. Tom took up in the guest room across the hall-and still remains there-as of now I feel it is best and he also-We value  our sleep-and in the beginning, I was awake much crying-- totally confused.. He can hear me when I need help-and he is there so fast.. HE can hear me when I get a leak and I do believe, he is happy that he is not involved with that. But willing to help.. IT is my mess, I will do it.. I say-So, he knows that I can take care of myself, and if need of him-he will be there. Limited--yes, He is not good at these medical things.. Hates hospitals, makes him sick to his "tommy-tummy--"  So u can pitty him what I put him through when I was in a long comma etc...... I think that he is still in shock..

Those bed pads in the hospital cost 35-45 dollars depending where u send away for them.. I borrowed a few from the hospital........... :>) U got a good price for such a large size. Lucky!!

Google "waterproof bed pads".  You'll get several sources that come up.  Some as inexpensive as $16.  Others as high as you want to go, depending on size.  MUCH, MUCH easier to change a pad, and certainly less expensive than washing and drying a complete sheet set, everytime you have a problem.  It's part of my "KISS" philosophy - Keep It Simple Stupid.  The older I get, the smarter I become.  Work doesn't have to be difficult.  You can just as easily skip Step B and still get to Step C without any problem.

YEs, Linda, friends that find out that I am an Ostomate-they just freak out by the whole thing (she has to wear a  pouch?) eeck!!! From now on, I will just say like Eric says- No Colon-still rollin" O- SOO Perfect !!!!!!!!!

Rosebud is on the left side of my midriff, so I sleep on my right side, kind of half-laying on my stomach/right side - and I don't often cover up, so my problem is on just the poop pad and my nightgown.  I also keep a towel within easy reach, so I can hold it against my abdomen while I head off to my bathroom to take care of the mess.  Haven't had to wash the top sheet separately in a long, long time - and don't anticipate having to do it for a long, long time.

I think Stella is going to be a pirate for Halloween.   All she says these days is  aaaaarrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhh  or was it just me

So far so good!!!! Rosebud seems to behaving herself.. :-)

We tend to sleep towards a window or the door.. But I do turn a bit-and most of the time I can feel Nellie had made some deposits.. So the leaks are not to much--NOT lie they were at first when I first came home-Took some getting used to.. 

Well, My_ I guess I am just a messy sleeper-- You seem to have such control Ha on me-I DO have a towel by my pillow for eating in bed at ALL times. and NEVER took upon it to retrieve it for the leaky bathroom hikes!! DAAA!!!!!!!! I guess I do say "oh-shit" and think that I don't.. and off I go for the adventure.......... Not very romantic is it?

I sleep the sleep of the dead and don't move hardly at all.  I'm always wake up still on my right side, and Rosebud has never gotten squished and had a blow-out that way.  My blow-outs happen if/when her pouch gets over-full and pulls the barrier right off my abdomen, taking the pouch with it.  Yes, it's quite the mess.

When I sleep in the big bed with my husband, I set my cellphone alarm to wake me every hour and a half to two hours (maximum) so I can check my pouch and see if I need to get up and change it or not.  If I don't set the alarm, I will sleep straight through until morning without waking up because I'm a very, very sound sleeper.  (I've slept through many, many great thunder and lightning rainstorms.)

Today, I've kept my food intake to a minimum (two grilled cheese sandwiches and a glass of milk), so I plan to sleep in the big bed.  (Have been on the reclining sofa these past two nights because I ate too much and Rosebud was way too active to chance sleeping in the big bed.  I'd rather not risk a mess, so I sleep on the sofa with my cats singing me to sleep.)  I'll set the cellphone alarms and will probably fall asleep very quickly as I always do.

So, let me get this straight- U sleep in a recliner chair.. sometimes, (that could be a mess too )  And when you feel like a Big Girl U sleep in the Big bed.. Any chance of getting a twin bed in your home-like a day bed-that looks like a couch with upper fitted pillows..? You need to strech etc.  Could come in handy if your honey gets sick and both of u need a bed.. I would love to have a cat sing me to sleep!! Must be nice-- cuddle cuddle.. I am big on that!! Lucky you! At least your not lonely in the chair.. I sleep rather well, I LOVE TO SLEEP!!! As I said before, I do turn, not alot- but I do, and then I catch Nellie. and sometimes, I turn and feel the wet or the burning. If the burning I say ohh NOOOO I have leaked for a long time. I always call it my adventure--"Hey Tom, Had an adventure last night/at 4 a.m." "ya, I could here you being busy" Sounds like rosebud really give you what for at times huh?  

Yes, when Rosebud is very active during the evening, I put on my long irrigation bag, clamp it off at the bottom, tape it closed at the top and sleep on one end of the recliner sofa.  When she's quiet and I have restricted my food intake, I am inclined to sleep in the bedroom with my husband and set the alarms to wake me throughout the night.

I will do ANYTHING to prevent cleaning up a mess, and this works well for me.  I haven't had a mess in a good long time and I don't intend to have a mess for another good long while.  I fall asleep quickly, regardless of whether I'm on the sofa or in bed, so I am getting my good and proper rest.

On the sofa, I recline back with my feet up and it's just as comfortable as sleeping in bed on my back.  In bed, I sleep on my right side.  Either way, I don't wake up in a mess ---- and that is my whole goal!  Nothing starts my day worse than waking up in a mess.  Nothing!!!!

Your my kind of Girl!! SLEEP SLEEP!  And a cat-- cant get any better than that! Sounds comfy!! Now about this long irrigration bag.. ( I don't irrgate (sp) do u?)  How does this work?  Very interesting!!! How do u clean this or just throw it away in the morning? New to me and I want u to educate me on this system of yours.. I agree a mess is not a happy experience.. Looking forward to your system -- no leaks huh?? Many thanks in advance!!! Marcie...
