I have no idea where the time has gone, but somehow it has been 6 years today since my colectomy. Of course, since I still struggle with leaks and other issues, it has been a sort of long six years. But as I reflect back, overall, things are getting better. Or maybe I am just becoming more adept at dealing with the Ostomy life. I am more confident in sharing my story with friends and co-workers. I have flown to Hawaii and to Las Vegas. In July I go back to Las Vegas for a work conference. This will be my first flight without my husband, who is my rock!! I have found TSA staff to be discreet and knowledgeable, so there is minimal delay. I am pretty good at changing my bag in a stall in the ladies room at work, and it no longer throws off my whole day. I have participated in 4 Ostomy Awareness 5k walks and plan to do my 5th this October. My ostomy is no longer the top stress inducing in my life. It is just background stress now. Granted there are so big other things going on but it is nice that Squeaky is not making those things worse. I owe a lot of my acceptance of ostomy life to Eric and all of you who have been so kind and supportive over the years. Thank you for welcoming me to this community and helping me get to the point where I can live a busy (very busy) life and not need to be on the site every day. I do miss those of you I consider friends and will try to pop in a little more often. Wishing everyone a super day!!! -Liza Many happy returns of the day to you both! Just look at you, Liza - you are a pro now! I have enjoyed meeting you here on VO and reading along with you on this trippy journey. I hope you will have a lovely and delicious piece of your favorite cake today! 🎂 My stoma is six weeks older than Squeaky. I always forget to celebrate because it is my husband’s birthday, too. Colostomy 4/30/18. That is a lot of progress and accomplishments over the course of *only* six years, @squeakyandliza! Congrats! Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Hey 👋 Liza many happy returns. It’s amazing how the years slip by. Here’s to many more adventures 👍 ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Great news, Liza! Look how far you’ve come in 6 years! You’re an “old” pro now. I always enjoy reading your posts on VO, and through your own struggles, you’ve made us all more aware and knowledgeable. Hopefully, the ability to share with us has lightened your load, and your experience puts you in a position to be able to make suggestions that some of us might never think of. Congratulations on making it to Squeaky’s 6th birthday. Here’s wishing you both many, many more!🥳 Laurie Just a semicolon

I love the smell of coffee in the morning. It smells like .... victory.
