Hello All, Those long days in hospital certain things past the time, looking forward to meals and visiting hours. I have a rule when I visit some in hospital, don,t ask silly questions, and don,t over stay. even when the bell rang people still wouldn,t leave and that was other peoples visitors as well. I do think and have to smile about a friend of mine who came in on his way home from work, I was getting blood and the line came out while he was their, it shot everywhere. the first thing the nurses had to do was step over my friend!! he passed out.LOL. He still gets reminded of it!!! ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Top of the Morning to Ye John ! All tough its not morning for you now . Sounds like your friend is a little squeamish Lol . When I was in the hospital it was nice to have visitors of course but sometimes its also nice just to rest so ya can hurry and heal and get outta there . Proctectomy , Ileostomy , Ulcerative Colitis What bout ye Robert, yep big hard lad, football, beer ye know the type and he went down like a sack of spuds!! yep I enjoyed the visitors but the worst part was some of them had me on my way out. I did tell one of my Aunties the hospital had put grease on my back. she had to ask!! Reply was "So I can go down hill faster" she the type that can take it. lol ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns I have a rule when I visit some in hospital, don,t ask silly questions, and don,t over stay. You can also add: Be mindful of the other patients in the room. My hospital stays have always involved wards with four people per room. Some visitors would be incredibly loud or show up through all hours of the day, which made it impossible to rest. I think it's also courteous to ask the family of the person who is in the hospital even wants visitors - some do not and showing up causes more harm than good in some cases. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. I'm pretty much not a big visitors sort. Asked that they not come by daily and call ahead to see how I was feeling about company. I even chased my sweet saintly husband out a few times with my tired and crabby self. I figure unless it is a spouse there is no need to hang out for more than an hour, some days that was even pushing it. Crohn's Colitis, Ilieostomy, Proctocolectomy November 2017 The posts have reminded me of something, after my surgery I was on the fracture ward, every one else in cast and traction and me with a bag. reason was it was the only ward they could find a bed for me. well i had a patient in the next bed he was able brilliant. he got me papers, any thing I needed even one cold night he when and asked the nurses could he get extra blankets for those who needed ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns The one time I shared a room my first room mate was terrible. She was pregnant and kind of a prima donna. Made it clear I was not wanted. I'd start retching and she'd lose it, she'd call the nurses and complain I was doing it on purpose. They moved me in with a nice older lady. She had UC and was recovering from a colectomy. She'd hear me start and call the nurse. We talked a lot, watched tv game shows and played along. My recent stays have been solo rooms, I think the hospital has done away with group rooms. I don't mind, it means my visitors won't bother anyone else though it is lonely when I think of playing along with my roomie. Having someone to call for the nurse when you're sick was nice too. Crohn's Colitis, Ilieostomy, Proctocolectomy November 2017 When I am in the hospital I do not want ANY visitors. Only one allowed is my Husband and just for a little while . I am sick and in no spirits to chit chat . I never visit anyone either unless they asked me to bring them something. Even then 5 minutes and I am gone . Last time I was in the hospital . My roomie was so rude . One morning she had 4 grandchildren and daughter in her side  . The kids were all in the bed with her while the daughter took pics to put on Facebook. I had to go potty but they were blocking the bathroom door . So I handle them straight up quick . I made potty in the bedside potty and ran those suckers out of the room so fast . I was laughing so much as the ran out gagging . My bad . Bubbles Proud of you. When I got my kidney, my roomy also brought his kids to visit. When the toddler started to cough and sneeze, I asked the hospital to enforce the rules. After all, i was immunity depressed. So they moved me to a private room. When the billing office wanted me to pay for it, I said that I had not requested it and am not responsible for the extra cost. They let me go. B ut your method is a classic. I have to agree with you about visiting the sick. In my heritage, visiting the sick is a very good deed. But you have to limit your time and you must pray for the patient's health to improve. Also, if the patient is not comfortable, get out. Bubbles, I hear you!! For 2 days I had a room mate.. She had friends in from Florida-we are in Ct. They played cards, and what ever board game they could get in.. Teenagers that just slumped on my chair .. U know the look- She also had 3 cell phones along with the hospital phone.. She talked !!! and those phones rang and rang all night-then SHE tells me "some people just don't answer their phones" meaning me.. I was so sick and could hardly speak.. then she realized it was all her phones-back up calls!! I asked her to call the nurse that I was dieying.. she told me it is in gods hand not hers.. Well, I was in the white tunnel (again) deying--sp- -- then all I remembered was people jumping on me.. I died.. That was my 2 days of no ICU and CCU.. Why they put me there ? I have no clue?? But she was a beauty! I later found out that her son got me help.. I ask for no visitors.. and ICU & CCU don't allow it much anyways.. My husband gets sick when he visits anyways.. AS of the rest of you--I want to try to rest as that is the hardest thing to do in there. IF u want to do something for me? CLean the house.. During my time away.. Right?????????? :-) 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie..
