I have shared a lot of bad things here in the almost 2 years since I joined the group. It has definitely been a struggle for me. So now that I have something good that happened, I wanted to share it here.

After 2 years, 8 months and 9 days, the wound on my tummy has finally closed up!!

After all the things we tried, the last surgery did the trick. More specifically taking down the fistulas they found which went from my small intestines to my wound, adding constant infection to the wound. Cut out that chunk of small intestines and wham bam, less than 5 months later and the wound is healed, just leaving me with a 24 cm scar instead.

I’m not sure who is happier, me or my husband, who has been changing my wound dressing all this time. 😂

Wonderful, Liza! Having been in your situation, I know how hard it is to wonder if things are ever going to heal. I hope you are finally breathing a sigh of relief, and looking forward to some degree of normalcy. Congratulations.

Congratulations! That's a long time to be managing a wound, but I'm really glad that it's finally healed!

@squeakyandliza...Liza, this is so exciting!  I think your wound healing up may also be good news for your state of physical health as well. Congrats my friend!!!

Tom, you are such a good man! What are you going to do with all that free time??? Golf more???, lol!

Linda, it is funny that you mention Tom. First of all, he golfs plenty!!  The time will likely go to working more. I was just thinking that now is the first time I can take a shower whenever I want without having to coordinate with his schedule to make sure he was here to do my wound dressing. The last year hasn’t been bad since he’s been working from home, but he has started going in to the office more lately. Before Covid and when I was working too was the hardest to coordinate. And a big part of that time, we were changing the dressing twice a day. It is funny the little things. I caught myself asking today what his schedule is like tomorrow because I skipped my shower today. Then I remembered no more wound dressings!!  Now I just have a Squeaky’s schedule to work around. 😂

Liza,

The sweetness of every victory is directly proportionate to the duration, hardship, and cost of the battle.  I'm thrilled to read that your wound is now healed.  Your relief must be beyond words!  Thank you so very much for sharing your triumph with us after such a long, difficult time enduring the ordeal.
