My sisters took me to see Jesus Christ Superstar tonight - it was a touring company, packed auditorium and …. Security on the way in. A man asked to inspect my purse. And for some reason I wasn’t fazed a bit. “Do you want me to empty it?” I asked. “No, just open and let me look inside,” he said. In there was my wallet, hairbrush, mints, etc., and of course my little ostomy kit (I wrap a couple of disposal wipes, a folded pouch, a plate and a barrier ring inside a grey disposal bag, fold it up and keep it in a ziploc baggie). He just looked while I moved things around, didn’t ask what was in the gray bag (he probably didn’t want to know), then said, “that’s fine; thank you. Enjoy the show.” I feel like a pro. And we really enjoyed the show. Colostomy 4/30/18. That's awesome! What a great feeling 😊 That's the way to do it!👍 Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Same here. They check our bags of you go to the ER here and did not faze me either although they kept my scissors behind thier desk until I was done. It was shift change and the new person had a hard time finding them but eventually found them. The nurses so gracious giving me 6 oz bottles of sterile water to rinse with. @chelly I cut the plate to size before putting it in the little kit, so I don’t carry scissors. Colostomy 4/30/18. @llholiday actually it was my old pouch a few years ago. I'm in a precut now but i miss cutting my own as the stoma changes with any weight loss or gain and i felt I had control for the fit. This one only comes in precut so no more scissors but you brought back that memory of the security gaurd taking my scissors lol Thats a pretty great feeling to sail thru Security! Way to go & big congrats! It can be hard to stay relaxed when someones snooping thru your personal goods but you did great!! I felt a bit concerned going thru Vancouvers Airport Security, Canada, in November. But after asking what was in my "go bag" they had a little peak, it was over as soon as it started & didn't even take my round tipped scissors. No questions were asked thru the xray machine but they did take my adjustable height cane & handed me a wooden one to assist me, then gave me back mine after a thorough cane examination. I have to admit I was prepared to be searched but none of that happened & no embarassing checks either. Linda That is great, Linda!! Did you enjoy the show? I liked that one, though not in my all-time top 10. My hubby and I love going to broadway shows. We have 3 cities all within about 200 miles that have touring broadway show seasons. We just saw Six a few weeks ago. It was really good! -Liza We did enjoy the show, Liza - this is something I never do, though we live in a city that gets broadway shows a couple of times a year. We were in the front row, and could really see the work that the actors/dancers/singers put into the performance. Colostomy 4/30/18.
