Tis the season to be jolly, is it me or has Christmas really come early. we put our tree up first week in Dec but I have seen dear know how many this last 2 weeks. Any way enough bah humbug from  an ole f24t. What was yer favour Christmas toy. for me it was Lego, plus over the years it got added to and used to keep it in biscuit tins. It was one toy that was every toy, any thing you could think of. can still hear my Mum doing the hoovering and the little bit I missed rattling up the tube!!

Ya, and if u find/give these toys like the slinky -- they take it as a "what in the heck is this?" Oh-love these when I was a kid---stashed.........  I am a true board game person--socializing is best for children-- I give these as gifts instead of an outfit that they will grow out of..  The whole family can play--and learn to accept loosing and winning with grace.. Just plain fun!!!!! Have a nice healthy snack and your off!!!!!

See where my 40 plus year old son's are??????  WHO WANTS TO PLAY CANDY LAND??? :-)

*********seriously mom??????????? ************

The original My Little Pony, twice the size of the new ones. I kept up with them into my teens and off and on into my 20s buying the prettiest ones I could find as I got the urge. Still have my first one, intend to clean and rehair it for my own pleasure some day. When I moved out I selected a batch to take with and mom offered the rest of them to the mom of the little girl next door. Her husband was against it but she won out. Apparently sis and I had a dream collection and she was not about to let it go by...

I remember our first computer that we got for Christmas. Used what looked like cassette tapes to run educational games.

Books were and remain popular Christmas gifts in my family. I still read my book of Irish Faery Tails, the beautiful copy of Phantom of the Opera my brother bought 12 year old me...

Its ironic that Lego is a toy invented and designed by a Pacifist that seems to have hurt so many people LOL. Felicity yer right about books introduce a child to the gift of reading and its a joy for life. I am not a reader but I see the enjoyment my wife gets from reading. And the old computer games the TV with more wires plugged in here and their! Also building Go Karts/Soap boxes. getting pram wheels old timber, nails sticking out of every corner. I still have scars but the memories are better

You're showing your age, Robert.  I'm 69 and we had Tinker Toys.  They were like sticks that connected with round flat pieces that had holes in them.  You put the stick in the hole and could build all kinds of stuff.  Tinker Toys and Lincoln Logs were VERY popular when I was a kid, and we were luckier than a lot of kids because we had both of them at our house.

Another favorite "toy" of mine was a babydoll.  Her name was AmoSandra and she was a black, jointed, rubber babydoll.  Everywhere I went, AmoSandra went, too.  If I took a bath, she got one too.  She did everything I did and was my constant companion for years when I was a little kid.  She and I got some mighty funny looks back in 1950 in NW Pennsylvania, but we didn't care.  Yes, I still have her.  Ma made clothes for her and she was very well dressed - just like I was!  Ma sewed for both of us!!!!
