As i posted earlier, i need to have fistula repair surgery(damage from radiation) i went to see the specialist at the cleveland clinic in feb and she is confident she can fix it...but i had to have my thyroid removed before that could happen. That surgery was feb 26(papillary thyroid cancer)and i finished my radioactive iodine treatment on may 4 and after all my scans and testing i can finally say that after nearly 2 years of hell i am officially CANCER FREE...PRAISE GOD! so they have scheduled my fistula repair for july 9...i am excited but nervous i know that i am going to be down for the count for several weeks if it works(Lord willing) i will be able to have my ileostomy reversed. But my first goal is to be able to go back to work when school starts back up on aug 22(i havent been to work since oct 24 2016)... God when you choose to leave mountains unmovable oh give me the strength to sing it is well with my soul Awesome news . Where is your Fistula surfacing at ? Please let us know how things go after July 9th :) Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. I hope your surgery goes well. I'll say a prayer for you! Stella Good Luck with your surgery Stella . Hope it all goes well . Proctectomy , Ileostomy , Ulcerative Colitis Actually, I had my surgery on 5/15. But thanks for the good wishes. It went pretty well. I am adapting to a life as a colostomate - though it has its ups and downs. Fortunately, I finally met my ostomy nurse - she was away for two weeks - and she is fantastic! She is helping me to see that I am doing well for a new ostomate. I see my surgeon tomorrow and am hoping to get the OK to drive again. (Though, I must admit, I snuck out two days ago for a short trip!) Stella
