Has anyone used one? For dance/ Martial Arts type things? I like the idea of a clip on appliance and it seems to be well fixed in place. Also would be wearing it for work when we do outings, I work in an elder care facility. I have done fire dancing with a martial arts weapon and would love to get back to it eventually. Not picked up my play or practice prop for about 6 months and miss it. I am also scared as hell of whacking my ostomy with any of my props. Crohn's Colitis, Ilieostomy, Proctocolectomy November 2017 Hey Felicity I would be afraid of hitting myself with the fire first ! Lol . JK . I think they make some kinda hard covers for the stoma maybe that would help . Sorry I don't know much about them tho . Just a thought . Proctectomy , Ileostomy , Ulcerative Colitis I haven't used the Stoma Stifler but would be willing to try it out for a review (hint, hint). I'm not sure how it differs from a traditional hard stoma guard, but stoma guards are certainly an option (and they come in many different sizes/styles). The level of activity and protection should determine the size of the guard you go with. But be careful with guards that are too big as they may make it difficult for you to bend. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. HA HA.. a fire proof stoma guard is an entirely new concept for me ! Love the picture, Felicity! Thanks. Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012. Subtotal colectomy with illiostomy July 2015; Peristomal hernia repair ( Sugarbaker, mesh, laparoscopic) May 2017. Unfortunately fire proof fabrics are stiff or treated in a way that is easy to compromise or just not something you want on your body. Most fire folk opt for fire resistant. Natural, tight woven fabrics are really good, leather is very good but seriously hot to wear. I wear denim and t-shirts or tank tops most of the time. There are newer fire resistant fabrics out there but for a hobby it's more economical to do with stuff you already have that is safe. I'd layer something resistant over the guard to protect it a bit more, likely a sash, no fringe/ tassels. Yep, too big and suddenly your poked. Finding that with the flange, I know that I'll have to wait before I can move down in size from a 2 1/4. Oscar is not in his final form, he is at 1 inch right now but due to being a loop I know they will revise him. Crohn's Colitis, Ilieostomy, Proctocolectomy November 2017 and.... fire folk! another new idea. I guess tin foil won't work huh? or a pot holder. What about that new silicone stuff they make pot holders and bakewear out of? Hummm...could be kind of steam punk like. Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012. Subtotal colectomy with illiostomy July 2015; Peristomal hernia repair ( Sugarbaker, mesh, laparoscopic) May 2017. Actually there are some uses of silicone out there for certain props. Better for gripping for props like staffs and also decreasing heat transfer, like for wrought iron props. It's mainly tube or tape form. Likely I'll see what I can make, maybe a salute to the old school ostomy appliances. Victorian/ Steampunk style could be awesome, leather and metal... Crohn's Colitis, Ilieostomy, Proctocolectomy November 2017 And don't forget to design some matching head gear! Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012.
