I have used the Hollister spray remover and am very satisfied. I also use their lubricant packets which are great. In the states we are limited by Medicare on how many boxes of packets we can buy so every other month I am allowed to order 3 boxes and 1 bottle of lubricant. This has to be rationed to last 60 days. The bottle of lubricant only lasts approximately 8 days but I disagree with your negative review of the bottled lube. It does the job but doesn’t last long enough. Great site!

It's a shame that you're limited to so little, Jim!

I'm glad the lubricating deodorant works well for you - I'm assuming you have a colostomy? I believe it would work better for colostomates, although I've had other people say it doesn't work well for them either.

Eric, I agree that the "tape" barrier/wafer would need more of the spray.. I use my spray like you do peal then spray let it sit and see if any more is needed which sometimes is around the stoma, as we don't want to bother that area.. So, a little touch of spray near the seal, then rest and peal off gently. I think this would be to much spray as I am like Jim here. Medicare = 1 spray very 3 months.. So, we have to be careful.. They started that a year and a half ago.. :-( Thanks for the input Eric.. --
But I see that wasted spray is included in the can. Marcie..

Eric, thank you for sharing all your valuable experience and insight! You've been my "go-to" since my partner had ileostomy surgery in December -- we've learned a tremendous amount of information. SInce we are in Ontario as well, we are using CMD for our ileostomy supplies. Do you have other recommendations for affordable supply companies? Cheers!

Personally I would love to see all of your videos on one page on your site rather than using utube.

Eric you always have the best interests of the members at heart and, I for one, am so grateful to you.

Hi Frank!

Most of the time, I order from Payless medical or CanMedDirect online. Both offer great prices and fast delivery. Been using both for years.

Eric,

First let me say that I find your website has helped me tremendously. You provide a wealth of much needed information. I would use your video website.

I do have a ? about adhesive remover pads versus the spray. I didn’t even know there was a spray. Do you find it personal preference for the spray vs the wipes?

Thank you again for all you do.

Hi Kim,

I generally use the sprays to remove my appliance and wipes to remove residue. Sometimes I only need to use one or the other, and sometimes I use them both during an appliance change.

If you only have the spray, you can spray some on a gauze pad and use it the same as wipes :)

This adhesive remover works really well. This is the first spray that I tried and it is so much better than those allkare wipes they sent me home from the hospital with. They leave like a oily residue and I had to to clean that with a alcohol wipe before I put the wafer on and it would burn if my skin is irritated. so far all of your reviews have really helped me with my ostomy. I now know which products work best for me. Thanks for your help.

Hi, Gurwinder.

Thank you for sharing your experience! Yes, Allkare wipes are really bad in my opinion. All of these newer silicone sprays are easier to use and leave no lasting residue! Glad it's been working well for you.

Hey Jim I have to agree with you on the amount of supplies . I too am lucky enough to be on Medicare but they limit me on the bottle of Lube also I get 2 bottles a month and that does not last . That's why I mix other things with it to make it last .

Eric you and Marcie say you use spray to remove the barrier ? I have never tried that I just pull it off and then use the remover wipes to get the skin protectant off . Is there a certain spray that you guys are using I'm sure there are many brands . Hollister products are what I use though  .

Hey Robert, Never used a remover spray, just like you carefully peeled it of and then I got one as a sample, it was Hollister!! WOW!!!!!!! what a difference ye would wonder how ye every did without it. The one it use now is Convatec and only reason cause the rest of my items are from their. As far as I know not a big difference in any of them but could be wrong. some spray at an angle better. now a tin don,t go far but great stuff. Have ye ever had that black sticky mark left by a band aid well its great to move that to. Was told it was a cure for baldness as well but I can tell you that's a lie!!! LOL.

Hey Robert,  I use SENSI CARE by convatec.  Medicare allowed one can  50ml. every 2- 3 (?)months..  I pull part of barrier then spray in that area let sit and work away.. use a bit more is needed.  Great on the seal rings around stoma.. :-)  I use this spray only if needed if I have a rash etc.  other times I wipe with the wipes, or just a plain cold wet wash cloth either way--Just as long as I don't have to bug the heck out of Nellie.. :-)  If she is happy?  I am VERY happy..  M.

Hi Robert,

Most of the sprays work the same, so brands don't matter too much, as long as you can get them. I've reviewed several here: https://www.veganostomy.ca/product-reviews/#Adhesive_Removers

Most people don't need to use an adhesive remover, but sometimes it does help, especially if you find that removing your wafer takes a lot of effort, pulls on your hair, leaves a residue, or tears your skin.

Hey Jim,

Hollister offers both an adhesive spray and an adhesive remover spray. Which have you used with success?
