My name is Holly and I have ovarian cancer. I started getting sick around the beginning of April 2017. I thought it was stress from my dad's death combined with a mild case of food poisoning.  After a few days,  I seemed to get better.  I watched what I ate and ate more slowly.  That worked for about 3 weeks then I got sick again. This time I wound up in the emergency room because of the pain. They did a CT scan and found the masses on my ovaries. On August 11, I was supposed to have a complete hysterectomy including ovaries and remove the tumor.  When my surgeon opened me up, she couldn't even see my uterus and ovaries because of the tumor, which she described as a large immovable mass. She did some more biopsies and gave me an ileostomy. I'm going to start chemo soon. After chemo, they'll do more scans and hopefully the tumor will have shrunk enough to be removed and my stoma can be reversed.

Hi Holly,

I am glad you found this site. It's helped me so much.

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer on Feb 10  I had 3 months of chemo, then the hysterectomy and ileostomy (surprise!) then 3 more months of chemo.

I am now back to work, in remission and seeing my surgeon on Tuesday about an ileostomy reversal.   Also going on a cruise in 2 weeks

Please know I am thinking positive thoughts for you and if you have any questions please feel free to ask

HI Holly:

As you can see from the posts we have quite a diverse group of participants all with different conditions and therefore different management skills of their individual problems. You have taken the right step in joining this forum as it will be so beneficial for you. As you can see from Illona's post she is there ready and willing to help you and who better than someone who has just gone through what you have.

I wish you the best in your upcoming treatments, they sound scary, they are scary, but we all come through them for the better.

Fun Fact: Oct 24th is the anniversary of my diagnosis from 2008.
