Just discovered the “One Blade” by Phillips.  Seems to workgreat for tough to get to areas around stoma.  This is what I have been searching for, unfortunately I read that these blades last about a month (based on reviews of peoples shaving their face and head. I only plan to use sparingly around ostomy so hoping for much longer use.

I've seen those before. What do you like about it compared to other method?

I think the blade will last longer if you only use it for shaving around the stoma. Beard hair destroys blades 😂

I've been using the Wilkinson sword (Some countries -Schick) hydro 5 groomer.

Has a small beard trimmer that allows you to get in real close and take blades on other side

works quite well.

Eric is right but the wrong way around? the residue glue will clog the blade quite quickly a tiny stiff brush and adhesive remover clears most of it glue - :-D clogs blades

It really removes hair cleanly and quickly..I can get real tight on the hairs right next to stoma.  Biggest challenge is staying away from sticky ring leftover..trying to avoid aggravating stoma skin by scrubbing this with soap..  my ostomy nurse had told me because my stoma is far out by couple inches and skin is smooth around stoma.. I may not need the sticky ring.  But scared to go without..will try when I get my nerve up...anyone go without the sticky ring?

Recently I replaced my beard trimmer and the new one came with a nose and ear trimmer. I have always used a blade for any hair and one change a while back  I was trying to remove a few hairs very close to the stoma. I couldn’t find the tweezers to pluck ( thanks to my wife, dam those eyebrows 😂) I spotted the ear trimmer and hey what a great job! Plus they rinse under the tap. Plus if they don’t get gunked up from a nose 😂 Sorry maybe that’s TMI 😁

Hi Rick

Yep - all the time! I use a one piece drainable clear Coloplast which I change every day - and that’s it. In the very early days when I ended up with sore skin around the stoma from leaks I did try a few different rings which helped out for a short while just to give some added protection while the skin healed. In particular, I found the Salts Aloe rings brilliant. But ultimately when the skin was healed I found I didn’t need the extra layer at all so just stick the bag on as it is - and it works perfectly for me both in terms of comfort and security. I'm lucky I guess. So…. give it a go! All the best to you.

@rick...my stoma is always out 1 1/2 to 3 inches, sometimes even more, sometimes less then 1/2 an inch, but mostly out & about!!   I left the hospital with a sticky ring & soon had a hate relationship with it. Its such a time consuming thing to remove all the sticky....ugh! Anyways, after seeing a video of Eric's, I decided to try it without and  I'm so glad I did! I have never turned back & avoid the rings as much as possible.  I found if & when I have leaks its usually my own fault over not noticing an issue or I have not payed enough attention to pressing or gently rubbing the seal around the cut edge by my stoma. Plus, I make sure my stoma is as dry as can be before I slip it into the pouch hole.

I want to encourage you to give it a try, its been so worth it for me & I sure don't miss the sticky rings!!'

The rings are one of those things that you either NEED or you're trying to create new problems for yourself 😂

To remove the residue I'll either use adhesive remover wipes or I'll spray adhesive remover onto gauze and use that to clean the residue.  I never found that soap was very effective for that gooey stuff.
