@tigerlily  or anyone here ... I would love your recipes for these sauces please. Can you tell me what gets dipped in them?

As of late I've been doing an over haul of my tolerable foods for my ever so cranky miserable disastrous guts! They are For Sale if you want them...price free!! Lol!

For me eating the regular meats potatoes/rice & veg meals are causing havoc with my pain sensors & are proving that meats especially are very hard for me to digest.  Between my eyes & wanting to make a better choice I feel frustrated with the time I'm not able to spend on screen looking for the right foods.

I would love advice on which foods that have the higher amounts of Iron & proteins & *vegetables are a must for me. Amazingly I can eat salads & I start with a lettuce base & add all sorts of peeled raw veggies then couscous or quinoa on top as well as fish of some kind.

So I get my veggies but eating that every day is not really good as all food groups need to be covered to get the daily requirements of vitamins & minerals our body needs to function. But I need good easy to make & digest cooked foods also. So any ideas & recipes leaning into the world of Vegan would be fabulous!!

I've looked into the nutritional yeast thing but wow, the stomach upset is not worth it to me, so any recipes with what I may have in my pantry are welcome. I can't afford the specialty vegan items as the yeast, my sister gave me a fair bit to try, also my small town just does not have the demand to bring the items in. I was lucky to find tofu here as it is!

So yes! Pretty please with a little sugar on top.. recipes are welcome & I'll try anything for my cranky guts unless it *crawls* on the ground!! Lol! Fish recipes welcome too.  I find the right sauce makes foods even more enjoyable!

If you like, let's start a new thread about sauses, but it can also be helpful to let us know what you'd like to be dipping as it may give fresh ideas ?

I should have several article a that might give you some inspiration, including tips on improving iron absorption. Check out the "diet" button in the main site menu ?

Nutritional Yeast is such a double edged sword for me. It is a nice nutrient boost and adds a ton of flavor to dishes, but it guaranteed causes ballooning for me, and its a food that isn't good for IBD anyway. Such a shame! It's definitely not something you need to have in your diet, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. ?

@veganostomy ... Thank-you Eric!  Laurie also. I came back to write down the Okinomyaki & sauce & the Gochujang word, lol. I follow a Japanese & Korean chef on instagram but haven't tried any recipes yet, other then Veggie rolls so I'll go back & check for recipes or just ask google,  At least google got that part right! Lol!

For 3 years now I am dealing with a few small battles of my own that aren't too friendly. One major is Chronic &     Severe Anemia, my doctors words not mine! Lol! If my iron goes above 2 its a good day.  I get pretty regular Iron Infusions for this, but an iron sensitivity of all stupid things means I require a most expensive iron that is reserved for those on Kidney Dialysis. B.C. Medical is dosing it out very greedily since covid.  Lots of wait time for special approvals even tho I'm 2 years requiring this medication!! Ugh!!   So... energy is a major factor in meals for me. Standing at the stove & making a meals with lots of ingredients is exhausting even sitting down but I do love to cook & create big meals I can put in containers & freeze for later.

This Japanese pancake sounds great & I'm sure one chef said they could be frozen for later. The more frozen for me the better.  I buy a few meals from the Hospital for the freezer for times I can't cook.  They're pretty good but certainly need seasoning from home! Lol!  Turns out a grain of salt is not just used for wisdom!! Lolol!

I think a new forum is a good idea as with cranky guts or others who are healing from surgery realizing foods can be an issue for especially Ileostomates, foods & nutrition are a rather continued topic. With my cooking back ground I know I've  enjoyed helping out on this topic so receiving others recipes & ideas are fabulous too. Nothing like tried and true recipes is there?  I check out the recipe area here from time to time also.

Idea/question.. Eric, not that you don't have enough to do, but is it possible to move the parts of this conversation pertaining to this topic to a new title??

You provide so much information here already & I am so appreciative of all your work so if not just say so & I'll try but my post concussion brain still can't wrap itself around the joy of electronics! Lolol!!!  Laurie, are you up to the task?

@dlkfiretruck Linda, why don’t I PM you with some suggestions, so we don’t turn VO into a cooking blog? Although I am totally blaming Eric for getting it all started with that photo of his paella! It made me hungry, and then I lost all control. ?

On the contrary, the Food and Recipes subforum is the perfect place to share (plant-based) recipes if you've got them ??

But I'd separate recipes into different posts, just so they can be more organized and easier to find ?

Absolutely, let me know what you'd like to call it and I can split this thread into a separate one ??

@veganostomy ... Great ! Thank you Eric! I think its a good idea to keep a  running forum/thread on the food topic. Its something I certainly struggled with and still do.

Choising a title... I have no clue... lol.  But something easy to find like maybe... Food & Ostomies ... simple enough?  Ideas are all welcome & how about Eric decides as I  know I've found many articles here based on titles you/he has chosen.

Thanks Again Eric!!

@tigerlily  ... lololol... poor Eric! Lol!

Sure go ahead but also he is going to "split this thread" into a proper column & title. So we can carry it on with no issues being where it belongs anyways...lol!

Thank you Laurie!
