Hi everyone,

For a few days I was having issues with leaks on the days when I showered and changed my appliance. Then a little voice (Eric's) reminded me to think about what soaps and shampoos I changed recently. 💡A light bulb went off, and I realized that I had been using Oil of Olay bar soap and a shampoo and conditioner with argan oil in them. Since that discovery, I have gone back to using Dove soap and am washing my hair separately.  I've had no problems so far 😅.

God bless,

Stella

Hi Stella, Ain’t it amazing how something so small can affect the wafer. Glad you got sorted. I have more hair in my ears than my head theses days 😂

It's great to hear that you found the source of your trouble, @sjlovestosing! It really is amazing how something so common in our everyday lives can have such an impact on our appliance.

I’ve gone through the same thing. I didn’t want to give up my favorite fun products. The solution that works for me is the very last thing I do is to wash my abdomen with basic Ivory soap to remove all oils. Then I even need to be careful to use a separate towel to dry that area.

It works well and I need to do it for my insulin pump and cgm sites too. I need to say I’m having ostomy and insulin pump and cgms attachment burnout. Just a basic thing like a shower is a two to three hour ordeal. 🤦🏼‍♀️

 Good topic Stella!

John- my over active imagination these  days painted a pretty funny picture there! lol!

@jattzl...I never realized It till now,  but I have done the same thing since my stoma arrived, and it works well. This allows me to use a moisturing what ever I choose on the rest of my  nasty dry skin.

TIP...I use Tagaderm and to prevent the edges from pulling away, I stretch them and the corners. It's enough that it stays put. My diabetic pump using friend was thrilled when I told him  this.  He tried it & his issues ended with the stretching.   Ivory is fun, it floats in the bath! I always send it overseas in the "Shoe Box" programs for those that bathe in rivers.
