So the countdown begins for my rectum removal.  This will be part two of my overall colectomy, and I’m counting down the days to have all the “bad parts” out. In about 7 weeks (Nov 19th, 2013), I’ll be admitted into Mount Sinai hospital in Toronto.

Because I have perianal disease (fistulas, fissures, abscesses, the works), there are some additional risk of complications, but I have complete trust in my surgeon and I hope my body will cooperate.  I can say that from the colectomy alone, my bum has been feeling much better than it did pre-surgery, so perhaps things won’t be so bad.
