some crazy sunsets around as well

Oh, man. I do miss seeing sunsets like that. We had a splash of colour in the sky the other night, but only just before the sun was out of sight. Still beautiful.

We are going to get down to -34C with the windchill this weekend. It's pretty wild to think that summer temps can be 60C warmer in the opposite direction!

Maybe in the summer you can send us some cool weather

It would be like sending you a blast of cold air you sometimes get when entering a store during a hot summer day. Jarring! 😱

@tony-h... Wow, Tony, that photo is so gorgeous with the deep colours in it.

Hi everyone... I want to let you all know that I'm not slouching off here, lol, I've  just been struggling fiercely with severe anemia, B12 and potassium deprivation again.   I've been waiting for another iron infusion since about the end of October.  As it is an infusion typically used for those on Kidney Dialysis,  which I am not, I need *special authorization * to even get it. It seems someone in that office feels I am undeserving as the wait and reminders from my gp seem to go unnoticed.

I'm exhausted and take many *snaps*  (sudden naps,)  in a day getting worse in the evenings.  I feel like I have a horrid flu all the time. I manage to force myself into life when I have Gwen as she is such a joyful, sweet & precious child.  I still look after her after school but her older siblings go get her as most days I simply am unable to go.

I have been reading along but find my snaps get in the way of responding.  I feel bad for being so absent here as I know first hand how valuable Eric's site is. Thank you again Eric!!

We had a one hour of a glimpse of snow before Christmas, but the rest of the time we've had typical cold Canadian winter weather.   This week was to be warmed up some, but its actually been very chilly outside.

While I'm  forced to rest, I was telling Gwen that I've never seen a scarf on ¹. She is 6 now and in grade one... where has the time gone?!!! She has never had a scarf. So I found a ball of wool in my craft stuff & though it took a week, I started crocheting her a 'keyhole scarf'. She loves how warm it keeps her & wears it in class as well.  She came in all bubɓly from school the other day with orders, lol, for 2 more scarves for her friends! Lol! I'm half way thru the second scarf but the third,  because of colour choices is proving to be hard to even find the yarn. I may end up using two strands of thinner yarn to get a similar result.

Anyways, I wanted to let you all know that I am still alive, sort of, lol,  and enjoying every second I get with Gwen. I really forgot how quickly kids change, especially when they enter school too.

How has everyone been? I kknow, you,  Chelly are getting thru your things and is now taking on the biggest yet. But how is everyone else doing?

Good Morning Lk and all . LK sounds like you are having a hard time . Hang in there hoping it all turns around for you and you get feeling better . Weather here couldn't be better 56° right now looking for high of 71° today . We have had some shaking going on however  . On the 19th we had a 4.9 earthquake which for here is not to bad of one but we did feel it . It was centered 12 miles from us here . Since then we have had another 4.4 last night several 3 + quakes and over 300 minor ones that are so small we don't feel them . Life by the San Andreas Fault can be a little shakey  Lol

Weather forecast is horrible. Single digits and below zero temperatures for the next week or two along with a huge snow storm that's brewing  by tomorrow  into Monday evening. I have to say this is been a bad winter

@tony-h your furball is gorgeous, and it looks like she’s really enjoying herself. I envy your mild temperatures. We will have a high of -10C today, with snow all day. We already have piles of snow. I can handle it for awhile - it’s really beautiful - but by now I’m done. It’s hard trudging through the snow, especially with a shopping cart full of groceries. I’m so tired of all the gear I have to wear to keep warm - by the time I get ready to go out, I can hardly move for all the layers. The good news is we’re inching up from the darkness, a tiny bit longer day every day. I love our long days in the summer, and although I know it’s annoying to change the clocks twice a year, I love it when we change to daylight saving time.

@dlkfiretruck Thank you for the update, Linda. It's terrible knowing what you've been going through, so please take care of yourself and nap as often as you need to.

Apparently, we'll have a “very hot” summer this year. With the relentless snow we've been having (now piled up to almost neck height), I'll take it! 🤣

@tony-h Truly, suck a beautiful place to live. It also looks perfect for our four-legged friends to explore and meet other dogos!

You encompassed so much of how I feel! LOL We live pretty close to a grocery store, so 99% of our grocery shopping is done on foot or by bike. When on foot, I have one of those handcarts, so when there's snow on the ground, it's not as easy to pull, since it's no longer rolling as it should (i.e. you're dragging it along).

But even just on foot, our sidewalks aren't cleared unless the homeowner does it, and some homeowners... don't do it. And when you get to an intersection, there's usually piles of snow leading from the sidewalk, so pedestrians are climbing small mountains to be able to cross. I've complained to our city, as I simply can't imagine someone with a disability or mobility issues being able to safely navigate in their community when it's like that. Even a week after snowfall, the experience isn't much better.

And yeah, those layers. I was complaining to my wife that gearing up for winter is so draining. And when you do come in from the cold, you have to manage drying off gloves, your jacket, your hat...

But those longer days, and the fact that we've actually had a lot of sun this past week, makes it just a little easier to deal with.

Still, any time I think about how awful the winter experience feels, I remind myself that it's nothing compared to what the unhoused families in our community have to go through. So, I remain grateful.

It's so nice to see daylight while preparing dinner! I can't wait for there to be daylight after dinner, too!
