Hi friends, I think I have shared that my brother-in-law (my husband’s brother) has Crohn’s. He has had it for 35 years, though fortunately for him, he hasn’t needed to go the ostomy route yet. We have really bonded over our shared Crohn’s life. We found out on Christmas that our 9 year old nephew (his son) is going through testing, but the doctor is almost positive he has Crohn’s. It is so sad. No kid should have to have a colonoscopy before his 9th birthday!! But with the family history and his symptoms, they did that rather than testing for food allergies, and sure enough his results looked a lot like his dad’s when he was diagnosed as a teenager. -Liza I'm sorry to hear that about your nephew. No age is a good age to have IBD, but it's certainly not easy when you're young. On a positive note, he has two people in his family who can relate - that alone will make his experience far more positive. And he's also got access to treatments that weren't even available 10 or 15 years ago. I hope his doctors find nothing, though. I wish him all the best. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Liza... I'm so sorry to hear this! But I agree with Eric. We have moved mountains in science since I was a kid with my bad tummy aches. I was 10 years old & was told ...so your done in the bathroom now...then go play!! He's lucky his Dad is aware of these things & I'm so glad he's got the support around him he needs and so much more because his Aunty is there for him too. As far as I know I have one cousin with Crohns & haven't heard about the other 51 of them. I'm sure they treat children more sensitively through testing then some of us were treated also. I'll certainly be praying for this little man! Ugh! Poor kiddo! Linda
