I had previously written about dealing with thick ostomy output, but many ileostomates have the opposite problem: liquid output. In this post, I’d like to go over a few tips that you can use to thicken up your output. These tips apply to colostomates who have loose stools but are directed more towards ileostomates.

Output from an ileostomy is generally liquid or loose, but some of us have thick ostomy output which can be difficult to manage. Colostomates also tend to have thicker output, but it’s typically drier, formed and far less frequent.
Because I have an ileostomy, I’ll be focusing on ways in which I’ve handled thick output. These may or may not work if you have a colostomy (or you may not have the same challenges).

August 21, 2014: It’s hard to believe that a year ago today I was at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto having my colon removed and getting it replaced with an ileostomy.
When Censorship Becomes Discrimination
Something happened recently that really angered me. One of the founders of the #GetYourBellyOut campaign, Sahara (Twitter @Sahara88uk) had recently come out of surgery, and while still recovering she posted a photo of herself on several social media sites, but the photo was flagged on Facebook and she was forced to remove it.
