I had the honor and great pleasure of being one of about a dozen Canadian IBD advocacy bloggers to be invited to attended the IBD Hall of Fame event held in Toronto on September 10, 2014. This was only my second time in a hotel since my ileostomy surgery last year, and it wasn’t without a few challenges, but things went very well and I’d like to share my experience about the event.

Ostomysecrets logoOstomysecrets is a big name when it comes to clothing made for ostomates.  Undergarments, swimwear and wraps are their specialty, and they have some of the most well-made products around.  I had the pleasure of receiving their Unisex Classic Wrap as a complimentary gift following their webinar titled “Putting the Pieces Together After Ostomy Surgery” back in early April.  I’ve heard such great things about their products, but since shipping is limited to the United States and a few European countries, I never had the opportunity to buy any of their products before.

One of the issues that many ostomates face is that they’re often confronted with challenges when it comes to clothing and their new stoma.  For some, having a pouch means they can’t wear their shirt tucked in comfortably or jeans are awkward to wear.  For others, exercising or general activity is uncomfortable because of their “extra baggage”.
