Food Gallery

Here are some dishes that I’ve been able to enjoy over the years.  All of these are vegan and all were consumed while I had Crohn’s Disease.  I can enjoy most, if not all, of these meals with my ostomy.

I hesitate to post these photo, knowing that many of my friends with IBD can’t enjoy food the way I have been since getting my ostomy.

With active Crohn’s, I wasn’t even able to drink water without being in tremendous pain,  so part of me hopes that if eating has been hard for you, that things will eventually get better.

For the lucky ones who don’t have IBD, I hope these dishes illustrate just how nutritious and enjoyable a plant-based diet can be!

  1. All this stuff looks great! Can’t wait to try adding more of these foods into my diet. If you’re ever in New Orleans, LA they have a vegan restaruant called Seed that is absolutely amazing!

    • That’s for the recommendation! I’d love to visit New Orleans at some point – I honestly never would have suspected they’d have a vegan restaurant there, but I’m glad to hear that they do!

  2. I have tried everything and it STILL doesn’t work! I will chew it until its NOTHING. I would love to have a nice salad. Veggies/Fruits. ANYTHING healthy! I’ve had this for over 7 years now and it hasn’t gotten any easier with food. Any tips I may of haven’t tried?

  3. Hey there!
Just wondering, how do you eat raw fruits and veggies with an ostomy? Doesn’t this cause you to have blockages?

    • Hi Serina, raw fruits and vegetables don’t cause me any trouble (and I eat them often) , but not all ostomates can handle it as easily. Peeling can help, but chewing is the most important.
