@tigerlily yes, we do have similar weather if your right over the lake in Canada. We have such long rough winters don't we? I imagine yours must be way worse with also having lake Ontario. You probably get horrible lake effect snow from both lakes.

Just glad we are coming to an end of winter. I know it will snow again but we are getting through the worst of it.

@veganostomy Oh no! I was hoping you’d seen the last of the snow.😞 Soon, Eric. Soon.

@chelly Because the winds generally come from the north west, most of my snow accumulation doesn’t come from either Lake Ontario or Lake Erie. Lake effect snow from those lakes clobber the northern parts of Ohio and New York states. (Sorry about that, Buffalo!) In SW Ontario, Lake Huron is where the snow comes from. Because it’s a fairly large lake, it takes longer for it to freeze, which means the winds keep picking up moisture from it for a long time, and dump it on us as snow. I’m reading reports lately that say Lake Huron is 75% ice covered now because of the polar vortex, which should slow down the snow storms. Just in time for spring!🤭

Yup, I'm not far from Lake Ontario, and we are mostly pretty protected from weather. But even so, this winter has been particularly cold, windy, and snowy.

@tigerlily amazing! So that's Canada sending us  that lake effect snow in Cleveland. I never knew that you did not get the lake effect snow.

Thank you for informing me on that. Im always up for learning something.

@chelly Well, yes and no. The winds come to you in Cleveland over Lake Erie from Ontario, but they get to Ontario over Lake Huron (where my lake effect snow comes from) from Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. And also northern Ontario, Manitoba and probably Saskatchewan. So the winds and the snow they bring come from both sides of the border. Which is why I’m still in Portugal. High of 17 today and sunny. 🌞  But looking at the forecast for back home, warmer weather is happening in the Great Lakes basin. Fingers crossed.

Yes, it's been in the pluses during the day for most of this past week. Strong winds (and rain) over the next few days, but still trending warmer! 😀
