Well, I pulled the trigger and adopted a dog this weekend.  He is an 8 month old Lab mix, I got him from a local shelter, the owner was an elderly lady who couldn't give him the care he needed.  His name was Larry, I re-named him Shadow, be cause he doesn't leave my side.

I love Shadow! Gorgeous puppy! We trained a dog that loved to eat socks, how to use socks that he was allowed to have for tug of war. We did that by tieing several individual socks with a knot in the middle. When it was time to play,on his schedule... we ran the sock with the knot in front of his nose so he could feel the bump. It only took two days, and when he came across a sock and wanted it, we found him pressing it with his nose. He was looking for the bump. He never touched another wearable sock after that. Have a great tie with your new baby!

Hi Sasquatch!

Congrats on your new pup. Our dog is a shepherd/lab mix with the emphasis on labrador. (You throw the ball, she brings it back, you throw the ball, she brings it back...) I think I mentioned one other time that she is really my son's, but she stays with us. She has been with us for seven years - since she was a year and a half.
