In November, I spent the time attaching two boxes of pouches with brand spanking new osto ez vents. Twenty of them. Has anyone else noticed that in rolling up the mouth of the bag towards the velcro,  that the plastic pieces that we roll up are all so close together that it is causing the plastic to stretch tare and leak?  I am 11 bags into using what would normally last me a lot longer. Usually I can get 5 to 8 days out of a bag and now I have to change them as soon as the leaks start. About 2 or 3 days only. I use the Hollister 8331 pouch. I could just cry. My eyes are having a few issue still and I need the phone number for the company. Can someone please put it in this forum for me. I need the Canadian toll free number. Thank you so very much in advance. I hope no one else is having to deal with the blue spots one their clothes.

Hi Linda,

I use the Hollister 18112 and haven't had a problem with the roll up area ( or any area) of the bags.

I can see this would be a real problem to deal with ( especially after installing the vents).

It could be a manufacturing error and you should definitely contact your supplier or Hollister directly.

Hi again,

Do you have another box or older or newer bags you haven't gotten too yet. Maybe if you do, you could compare them with the ones that are failing. Maybe there is some difference you can see? Are the flat plastic things in the roll up part the same distance apart?

Just a thought.

Also, if you need/want to keep using the ones you have put the EZ-vents one ( I know, lots of time and money), maybe you could use some packaging tape to reinforce the places where the failures are occurring. It would make it all a bit thicker, but might work to give you longer wear time.

I used to get the bags with the filters, they always leaked from the inside out through those filters after a couple of days. To get extra days, I covered the entire filter with clear wide plastic mailing tape. Worked well.... a bit bulky but O.K.

Might be worth a try, Good luck to you.

Also, take some pictures of the failed bags, so when you do talk to the Hollister people, you could send them pictures if you need them...

Hello John, Thank you so much for digging up the Hollister phone number and the email address also. That was a bonus and will come in handy. I appreciate that you took the time to do this for me. My eyes are crazy and doing their own thing lately. They are actually improving in vision. The eye doctor has never seen this before. I deal with a lot of blurry times here and there throughout the day and then you add cataracts into the mix...well, you can figure it is a bit of a challenge. My Mom wore glasses her whole life and by the time she was 65 she did not need her trifocals anymore. She now has 20/20 vision! I can only hope and pray that this is what my eye are actually trying to do. They tend to get very dry and burn too so I have prescription drops that I have to put in daily. Only time will tell right? Anyways, thank you again fr the phone number.

Hi Dona, yes there is to me anyways an obvious difference in the way the bag is put together. I always marveled at the way the company was able to place the harder plastic pieces together with just enough of a space between the plastic to allow for a fold over without stretching the materials. Now, in these bags, the pieces are so close together that there is no way to close the bag without the plastic stretching when I close the mouth. I seems that after several times of the rolling process it makes tiny leaks in the bags. The first leak was the biggest leak and the worst one so far. I have a total of four boxes and they all have the same problem. This is breaking into my emergency supply now. I do the same as others here, rotate the boxes and supplies so the emergency ones are always relatively new. I really hope the company will exchange the bags and replace the vents. I appreciate so much the help and suggestions. I have never had a problem with any of the Hollister products so this was  surprise to me when the leaks were three times in the same place I really checked them out and I was surprised that was what the issue was. Because of the leaks it has even had an impact on the amount of liquid deodorant I have gone thru. Unfortunately, I have to count every single drop that goes into the bag in order to get one bottle a month work for me. This all sounds so fuddyduddy cheap, but it woks for me. Thanks so much Dona for the help here. I will shoot off a email to the company next and let you know what happens here. Have a great day to all.

Linda

I'm sorry you've had that kind of trouble, Linda.

It's rare for products to be defective, but it does happen if that's what's going on. I'd be even more surprised if Hollister changed something without warning - we already know how that turns out just by reading the Cymed products thread!

Please update us when this is resolved.

Hello all...I have heard from Hollister about the leaky bags and they were very nice about the whole thing. My bags are a covered cost so that was not my concern. My budget is rather small, so spending 30 bucks on 10 vents and having to toss them on the 2nd or 3rd day was crazy to me. So, due to the fact that the bags are covered, they are going to make up for the loss of value in the vents by replacing them with some of their product. They are sending me 2 bottles of M9.  An 80 dollar value to me and it helps to make up for the time and laundry and vents. I am happy about that. They have passed the issue on to their factory and are looking into fixing the issue. Thank you all for the encouragement to call them. I am not sure I would have other wise.

Hi there! As of today, I have received the two bottles of M9 liquid deodorant and a surprise, also a box of ten new bags. I appreciate their response so much for replacing the bags even tho they were covered,  while unable to replace the osto ez vents, they did replace a bigger cost with the deodorant.  I will not have to purchase deodorant for two months thus freeing up the money who purchase more vents. I found those I dealt with at Hollister to be very polite and understanding.  I am so pleased with their help and the outcome in this matter. I am not sure I would have let them know about this fault in the pouch closure had I not had some encouragement to do so.  So thank you all for your part in this matter.

Yay, Linda! That's very nice of them to look after you like that - it doesn't surprise me that they did. 👍

Hopefully, things will work better moving forward. Give us an update in a few weeks/months.
