Oh Stella, Thank you! That is the nicest and kindest thing you could have said to me. I may cry a little. Eric and John, thank you also. I know that I get too long winded but am learning the computer better and finding I can edit even after I hit the send button. I heard that sigh of relief Eric. COL! (chuckles out loud) Should I patent that? This is the last entry I read tonight and will sleep well because of what you have said. I have a busy day tomorrow with tests and I also finally got my Internest Appt. It took almost a year. I have been malnourished for over that now, and can feel it. I am not on the computer this much if I feel well or if the whether is great. But I think it is important to share Ostomates what ever we can to help them. Two people may say the same thing but it is the way it is said that may make the difference. We all contribute the best we can. So far, I have not seen another site like yours Eric. Thank you for the chance to share our pain, grief, leaks and resolutions to it all. There is strength in numbers. I can not believe I have been on here for 2 years. Besides my emails and some pinterest, this is where I tend hang out I too, learn from others. Speaking of learning, do you Stella or anyone compost at all? I have never done but I am allowed to contribute to my neighbors compost and they appreciate it very well. They are elderly twin sisters, with hearing issues, so they can not hear all my questions. I think it might be easier if it were explained in easy terms. I know the crawly things are good for the soil, but can I just toss they with tongs over the fence to my neighbors garden.? Eeeee.... With my eyes causing troubles, I can not find all I want to learn. Speaking of learning...Stella,..Maple Syrup in a smoothie! That sounds so awesome. I wanted to try it until I remembered I am type 2 diabetic. Maybe on sugar low. Have a good day tomorrow all. Linda Linda All the best Stella with those tests ? ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Hi Linda, I have tried twice to write a reply, but my computer is going haywire. I wrote all about composting, not just once, but twice and the darned thing erased it all! When I have more time, I'll tell you about it. I don't want you to think I'm avoiding the question. Stella This is too funny. Read much John? Lol. Sorry, I had one hour sleep last night and am feeling it. Giddy is my go to emotion when I am over tired. Stella, not to worry, on occasion I manage to do this thing to my computer that makes it impossible to go back and change a letter without erasing more of the right stuff. It would often overlap letters and words and do it in the color blue. I re-wrote so much it was nuts! Eventually, I tried signing out and then signing in here again. It worked once in a while. My son solved the issues by showing me the buttons to not hit when I was typing. But i sure understand the re-typing of the whole thing. I appreciate your efforts so much and will read it when it works for you. Thank you. Thank you for the good wishes, but I am not sure the end result will be what I am hoping for. I will let you know when I know what the results are. Today was very long for me. There was a soft Rain falling, so nice and fresh outside. I had to rely on a volunteer to drive me because my car breaks are not repaired yet, the green stuff you know. Anyways, I did not eat breakfast because of Roses activity level in the a.m. when I do eat. She certainly has more energy then I do at that time. Very few washrooms between A and B, and about an hour ten drive. It was well after one p.m. when I was done, and I have learned that I have to figure something else out about the not eating thing mixed with the Diabetes thing when I have an appointment like this. I just can not deal with having to excuse myself in the middle of any appt. to take care of the paper work! At any rate, it was a good day all around, the driver and her hubby were great people and we had a good time. It is peeping season here folks! It was so nice to see so many bulb flowers blooming as we traveled, and to see the green leaves peeping out of the branches on trees and as always the pussy willows were beautiful. Yesterday, I made bundles of romeos dog hair and tied them to the fence so the birds can have it to line their nests. It is fun to see them pulling at the hair and flying off with some in their beaks. Spring my be here but there is talk of droughts in the Okanagan. Have a great weekend everyone! Linda Linda spring has been here since first of april, picture taken friday, april 19th. spring skiing has been supper for almost a month. we had a bit over 300inches this winter. skied 100miles so far on old logging roads since the first of april. spring has a different meaning to the skiers who ski on the supper hard crust snow that forms when warm sunny days( up to 60F) and nights below freezing. Dogtalkerer...Once I realized I did not have a brain tumor, the picture is even more lovely! Thank you for sharing your spring fever with us! I used to ski downhill and loved it very much. I could never do cross country due to asthma. But I like to live it thru others stories. This is wonderful. Ha! 300 inches of snow....yikes! I love snow, but not that much. Linda Hey all...About those tests...it seems I have to have more of them. The SVT ( supra-ventricular tachycardia and catheter ablation) I had years ago resulted in a scar in my heart. After that was done they diagnosed a mitral Valve prolapse. Recently a rash of crazy things have been going on and I now have been told I have a heart murmur. So, more tests and now severe anemia and too low of blood pressure. The malabsorption is doing its own thing and causing its own issues and confusing thins a bit. The specialist is sending me for yet more tests, blood work, a CT scan and as she put it, an ultra sound of my heart to find out if there is regurgitation going on at all. Does anyone remember my very blue/black stoma? She figures it is related to my heart issues and there is a chance I may require treatment...tho it was not said exactly what kind. Silly valves (MVP) and a blood clotting disorder (anti-phospholipid antibodies) make the situation a bit more urgent. I am not one to sit around and worry, and will deal with things as they come in and as usual. It is proving to be an interesting journey this life of mine. Good thing I have several things to do to keep my hands busy and my mind off of things. Stella, I have yet to grow Asparagus. I love the stuff and due to the fibre in it I have always avoided it raw until I cut it fresh into little wheels and I now use it in place lettuce. It the colour green had a taste, I would say it is fresh asparagus. Is it true it takes three years before you get any of it really growing? Linda Hi Linda, I am so sorry to hear of all your issues. I said a prayer for you as I read your last post. In answer to you question about asparagus: yes, it takes about three years to grow. I love them as well and enjoy eating them raw. Though I do eat meat, I love my veggies and fruit! Regarding spring, it has finally come in a big way here. The snow melted rapidly and there is nothing in our woods - a first in all the years we've been here! My hubby and I are doing yard work - getting stones out of the lawn areas, cutting back briers and small brush, etc. I was going great guns for three days, but I have slowed down a bit. I will be going out in a while to continue to cut back the rogue black berry and raspberry bushes. They can really take over a place in a short time. After I get that done, I will finally be able to concentrate on my perennial and veggie gardens. We have a small window of time - about two weeks - before the black flies come out. They can make gardening quite challenging when they arrive! Stella Thank you Stella. I am a pretty tough cookie and I just trust that the Lord has all of this in his hands. My parents recently sold the farm to my sister and her hubby. They have a fence line on the five acres full of blackberry bushes. I could spend a whole day out there picking, and then making pies for the freezer. They also have blueberries and a huge garden space and a small golf course my Dad put in. They both love to garden and grow many veggies, herbs and fruits. How far back does gardening go in your genes? I can still remember seeing my Dad and my grandparents working in a garden when I was about 7 years old. I have never planted a garden in the size of the two I speak of, but if misbehaving was the order for the day, it was not uncommon to be assigned to weeding a row or two. I loved seeing the changes in the size and colour of produce every single day, sometimes from morning to night. Feeding the birds nearby is a great and natural pest control option. We have a lot of Quail here and one time when I was out in the garden and unaware of them in and under the zucchini leaves, I guess I startled them and they all flew off in my direction freaking the living daylights out of me. Have you ever seen the movie The Birds? Quail seem to need a lot of runway to get some airtime. It would have been hilarious to watch my reaction. I have been pooped on by birds a fair bit, so I was not looking forward to the results of the escape that day, but miraculously not one of them did their damage on me, they do not have the smallest droppings! It is so nice to hear that Spring has sprung in your area. So refreshing to have after having spring fever set in. You said it was early, when does it usually arrive for you then? I know it is hard not to push yourself when you have the bug to get it done, try and make sure you pace yourself to some degree. Have a great time out there! Linda Hi Linda, My "roots" (pun intended) for gardening got back to both my grandmothers. My father's mother had the most influence on me, I think. She grew primarily flowers, but was raised a farm girl. I used to weed in her garden, but get paid for it. I would stay at her home, which was only about 7 minutes away, for about three days and work like crazy. It was worth it, though. She was a great cook and she paid$1.00 at day, which was a great deal of money in those days. I couldn't help but laugh at your experience with the quails (sorry!) and, yes, I did see the movie The Birds many years ago, which freaked me out at the time. However, it did not affect my love for them! We got some snow overnight - only a dusting, but that's not unusual for this time of the year. Also, mud season has finally arrive, albeit late. We live on a dirt road, which is actually doing better than most roads. But navigating the mud and deep ruts on the other roads is no picnic! Stella
