The problem with most 1pc systems is that you really can't see around your stoma very easily and if your stoma just touches the adhesive it'll ruin it.

When I apply a 1pc, I always try to apply the bottom (under my stoma) first, then roll it up towards the top. With something like a Sensura Mio, it's a little easier to do because the wafer is flexible. With something like Hollister products, you have to make sure that you've cut the hole large enough so it fits without touching your stoma or leaving too much of a gap - there certainly is a learning curve to this!

Now, Mio's have an inspection window on them, which will make it easier to apply vs. a fully opaque system. Use that to your advantage when applying it. 

And I always test to make sure that my stoma fits through the hole BEFORE removing the release liner. That way, I can make adjustments as I go.

I’ve discovered a little trick. I fold the one piece like a taco. It allows me to place it securely over my stoma while actually guiding my stoma into the bag. I’ve had much more success since I started my taco trick. I took a pic but can’t figure out how to post. Hope this info helps!

I've done this before, but it only works well with certain appliances, but not all (i.e. It would be difficult to do with a convex product).

I use Coloplast Sensura mio two click system, and Coloplast has a video for applying your appliance which shows exactly what you are talking about, the taco method. They have a number of videos showcasing their products (example barrier rings, leakage, etc,) it is worth looking at.

Hi Figsisters, What is they say "necessity is the mother of invention" Some one got their before ye lol, but just think how many folk didn,t know about this tip until you posted. I can do my whole change and no output BUT as soon as I have the wafer ready to put on!! I think its called "Sods law"
