I have posted this before, but~having issues with my knees, I knew I could not be a kneeler for long! I bought a shower stool on Amazon ($15?) with an adjustable height. I set it at the height where I could face "the throne," empty my bag, and it was a game changer! I had less mess, I could see what was happening, AND saved my knees after 40 yrs. of running, power walking, & aerobics.

Hey, if you can kneel & that works for you, GREAT. For those of us w/knee issues, however, I recommend a cheap, adjustable stool...you can wipe it down w/Lysol as needed; it doesn't take up much space in the bathroom, and, IMHO~ if it makes emptying your bag easier: It's a GREAT THING!

I am a kneeler, too, but for my convenience I made a thick kneeling pad - using 3 layers of green sponge (which was sold for assembling gym mat - this one with interlocking edges). Its total thickness is close to 4 cm or 1-1/2", width = 26 cm (10") and length 46 cm (18"). The sponge sometimes used to stick to my knees (when I was wearing shorts) - I did not like it and fixed the problem by covering the pad (knee areas) with felt - the felt is sold in Dollar Stores or craft stores like "Michaels", it has adhesive on one surface.

Underneath, near the right edge of this pad I added a small strip of a sponge - when I finish with emptying the bag, and stand up, then I step on the right edge of pad, which causes the left edge to rise. Then, I move my left foot under the pad and I lift the pad to its vertical position to be stored next to the sink stand. Such an arrangement saves me from bending and manually picking up the pad from the floor.

For emptying and rinsing the bag, I use my invention - the Long, Wide and Flat Tubing, which I always add to my pouches. I can pour (using small funnel) even 2 or 3 L of water in a few seconds - such a "shower" thoroughly rinses my protruding (prolapsing) stoma and the pouch.

I am still puzzled by total lack of interest in my Vent invention.Tried to e-mail Coloplast a few times - they did not respond. My offer to give away samples is still valid.

Regards, polgyver

Spent 2 nites at Mt. St. Helens. The Devil's Elbow was scary. One week later, I hiked back part way from Spirit Lake. Coastal magazine's editor had me drive from Reedsport to the Redwoods. Neat coastal rocks/paths. Hiked the PCT on both ends of Crater Lake. Tracked a wildcat in the snow at Union Peak. Long drive to Bend & skipped Sunriver. Did stay at the neat old Prospect Hotel, gourmet food. Rain/fog at Columbia River Gorge. Did all the falls. Too much fog at Vista Pt, bummer. Finished my trip w/3+ days at Rainier. Many hikes. Skyline, Christine Falls & Naches Peak(PCT) was my fav.

Timberline is beautiful. My best friend got married up there. Did you make it to the coast? The Oregon Coast is so nice. That is where my hubby and I got married. And we are going for a long weekend in about 9 days. It is my happy place. The sound of the waves and the ocean air. It fuels my soul.

The zoo is fun. There is some hiking up near the zoo, at Hoyt Arberateum. Another great, though very touristy place to visit is Multnomah falls on I-84 about 30 miles east of Portland. It is a pretty easy walk to the top. My mom was in the mazamas about 20 years ago and her group hiked Mt St Helens and they started up Mt Hood another time but the weather prevented them from reaching the summit. A friend of mine just hiked Saddle Mountain over by the coast. It is a 4.5 mile out and back and they really enjoyed it.

Bend is my other favorite place in Oregon. There is a little resort area about 15 miles south of Bend, called Sunriver. We have been going there since college. It is a very nice place. Lots of walking/bike paths and all the rental houses have hot tubs. And there are deer roaming around everywhere.

I’m glad you got a chance to visit our little corner of the country. 😀

Wow, that is great!! I grew up in Portland and our family used to go camping in a campground on Mt Hood. There was a 3 mile hike around the lake and at one point there was a sign and another trail leading to the PCT. I was always curious about it, and I have read Wild. 😀

Also, if you went over Stevens Pass, did you check out Leavenworth? It is a cool little Bavarian city. Just beautiful views through that area. I live in a Washington and there is so much beauty in both Washington and Oregon.

Love the EMP museum. Drove to Mt Davis & hiked south. Finished in CA. Easy, as the Trail can be done as day hikes. Used the many E. to W. roads & motels. They all cross the PCT. My fav? Steven's Pass. By the time I got back to Seattle, I hit every popular attraction. Used to hike all over the world.
