After my surgery in May my Ostomy nurse started me out with Coloplast/Brava products and I've been pleased with them ever since. I guess I'm blessed that my skin and the products are compatible. I use the Coloplast CT6706 pouch , the Brava Protective Seal Thin CT12035 and the Brava Barrier Strips curved elastic CT120700. Early on, last June, I did try an adhesive remover two different times and had leakage/blowouts both times. I don't use adhesive remover anymore, I just use a damp washcloth to clean and remove any adhesive residue. For me this does the job. I have other issues related to my colostomy but am grateful that my product system works well.

but if I don’t use a ring the skin slightly around stoma gets irritated, even though the precut is ALMOST perfect.

The hospital gave me generic skin barrier wipes to apply with adapt rings..always a sticky mess on removal. But I recently discovered by switching to adapt wipes with adapt rings, the rings come off easily!

all barrier wipes are not created equal, I wish hospital had given me this combo initially, without going through years of ring remnants on changing appliances.

I tried the trio ring. It basically disintegrated in a day, leading to a leak. When I removed the wafer, there was no sign of the trio ring. It was sort of crazy.

Woah! Unless they changed something, I'm surprised that could even happen.

The Trio rings are silicone, not hydrocolloid, so they should theoretically not breakdown.

Do you recall if those had the "Genii" label on it?

well I tried the trio genii rings and they are not the sturdiest , one day and it more or less disappeared , its a pity because its a great idea , they are just too thin ,

what i did for the last few changes with them is to use an eakin ring and put on of the trio rings on top of it , which gives a great seal around the stoma , the eakin seal expands as the trio seal disappears , am I over complicating things ? probably but at the moment it seems to help ,

I also think my skin did not like them as I think they caused a reaction , it might have been the toxic output that it allowed under my base plate .

I actually stopped using skin barrier wipes due to that reason. You will get a hard to remove build up after a while even while using adhesive remover. Although sometimes these things are needed.
smith and nephew makes 2 really good adhesive remover wipes and one is called Remove and the other is Unisolve. They really help with getting the build up off but may be a bit harsh for some. They don’t bother me. You just have to make sure you get all the residue from the adhesive remover wipe off of your skin.
I use the adapt cera ring and I find they come off easily but if you’re using barrier wipe they can get stuck in pretty good and hard to remove. It’s s catch 22. If you need the barrier wipe you have to deal with the sticky residue.

I don't mix brands, but then I like Colopast products and have not had a need to try others.

I use the barrier ring and using their adhesive remover spray and wipes I do not have an issue removing the ring/appliance.

I use the spray first then wipe with adhesive wipes. I always shower when I change appliances.

When applying the ring / appliance I use the powder and the skin barrier wipes.
