I'm only 3 years into my stoma so a relative newbie compared to others. Having tried many different products, I settled on the Hollister 58335. This is a one-piece pouch, with tape border made of non-transparent plastic. I've been told it's EOL and that the alternative would be the 54335 which is almost the same pouch but made of transparent plastic. Maybe I'm too fussy but I prefer the non-transparent version.

I've looked around but can't really find other manufacturers that have a similar product with tape borders. I'd welcome suggestions from other forum members.

If the only difference is the opacity of the bag, I'd suggest going with the new one, but perhaps wearing a pouch cover if that's not too much trouble.

The problem with finding a different wafer, tape border, etc., is that the appliance may not work as well as what you've got now. This would be especially true if you're looking at other brands.

On the flip side, you may end up finding a better system.

Tape borders are relatively rare, but see if ConvaTec still makes them.

Let us know what you end up settling on. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. The pouch cover hadn't crossed my mind. I've not use one and it's probably the easiest option. I think my local community group makes them so will touch base with them.

Don't understand why the tape borders are not more popular. In combination with a 70% isopropyl alcohol clean, it has significantly increased wear time and reduced leaks for me.

The cynical side of me would think that longer wear time = less profit for manufactures 🤣

It's possible that it's less skin-friendly than a full hydrocolloid wafer. Anecdotally, my skin does look better under the center (hydrocolloid) portion of the wafer vs under the tape border.

Yes! This is the way! My wear time easily doubled once I started cleaning my skin with isopropyl alcohol and switching to 1pc (larger wafer) appliances

the convatec activelife has tape borders. Not sure if you’d like the change though.
