I tried some samples and liked them -- I have had some quality control problems with Hollister lately, so ordered a batch of B.Braun to give them a real workout. your review states that it is important to cover the filter when showering, though I didn't see this in the accompanying instructions. However, I opened my box of thirty bags this morning, they provide a grand total of 6 filter covers. I doubt very much that they are reusable......

Yes, unfortunately, you don't get very many. You may be able to reuse them or keep one on and uncover it when needed, but feel free to use any other water-resistant tape over it if you have to.

Feb 2018: I just tried a sample of the convex Braun Flexima, transparent pouches. Things I really liked were: comes in 3 sizes (I used the midi size which was perfect); easy to align with pouch and the wafer has a "floating flange" similar to the Hollister wafers so you can (just barely) slide your fingertip underneath it when you are sealing the pouch to the flange; no skin problems (itching, burning, rash) like I experienced when using the Sensura Mio pouching system.
Things I didn't like: (1) the transparent material was very, very flimsy feeling and you could hear it crinkling a bit under your clothing; (2) the adhesive velcroing at the drain started peeling away on Day 3; (3) NO PRECUT OPTIONS!; (4) no cutting guides or disposal bags; (4) no option to puchase an opaque pouch with a viewing window; (5) not enough shower stickers! (6) wafer creased up creating ridges and I was really worried about leakage - I had on a Brava barrier ring on the wafer and didn't experience any leaking, but the creasing, folding, peeling up at the edges was concerning. Without the ring, I feel pretty sure there would have been issues with the wafer sticking and preventing leakage.
I can't comment on the effectiveness of the filter as I was taking an antibiotic at the time which really cuts down on gas production.
Even though the system has some really nice advantages, the flimsy construction of the pouch material, the poor adhesion of the velcro closure, and the wafer creasing makes this pouch a "no" for me.

Thank you for sharing your feedback!

I wanted to address a few of the things you didn't like.

The adhesive velcro peeling away. I have not experienced that with any of the B. Braun products, but I had the velcro peel off on one single Hollister pouch a few years ago. I would say this is either a defect in the batch you received or some other very unusual circumstance occurred (i.e. they were exposed to extreme heat or cold during shipping). Either way, I'd let B. Braun know directly as I'm sure they'd want to know.

I do see pre-cut options on their website, so I wonder if maybe your supplier just doesn't carry them.

I also really want to see an inspect window on these. Considering they do have inspection windows on their Softima 1pc, I can only imagine this option will be available in the future.

Glad you had a chance to try these! If you try any other products, please leave your feedback.

Samples can also be requested at myosto-mylife.com, and you can even choose to give your opinion on the samples with a phone call to someone after you've had the product. I like that I can give them an honest opinion of how I like this vs. what I'm currently using!

Any idea where I can get a 1piece sample? It seems like they only offered 2piece samples ??

Frank, it looks like only the Flexima 3s is being offered through the site, but you may be able to get 1pc samples by calling or emailing B. Braun directly.

Hey again, Frank. Looks like the 1pc systems aren't available in North America until 2019 :(  They are being sold in other countries, but we'll just have to wait.

As noted below, I decided to switch from Hollister to B.Braun after trying the samples. I've gone back to the Hollister, because the two bags I used were not of the same quality as the samples, even though I gave the supplier the product numbers. I have a picture, not sure if I can attach it?? It's grown fibre threads about 2 inches long. I'm not normally fussed by things that don't show, but I found these bags quite repulsive.

Hi Ann, that's strange! Have you contacted them about it? Perhaps it was just a bad batch? I've gone through many boxes of Flexima pouches and haven't noticed any issues with quality control.

No, I hadn't, but decided I should give them a chance to deal with issue, since I have "gone public". Sent them the picture.

B. Braun is discontinuing sales of ostomy products in the United States. The page from their U.S. division at https://www.bbraunusa.com/ includes the text "Notice: B. Braun Medical Inc. will no longer provide ostomy supplies as of December 31, 2019. Please seek alternative products from your supplier of choice."

B. Braun has been making and selling ostomy products internationally for over 40 years, but it was just in 2016 that they decided to introduce one of their product lines (Flexima 3S) in the U.S. and Canadian markets. They're removing it from the U.S. market now. I suggest checking with your Canadian contacts to see if they'll keep selling it in Canada.

Unfortunately, this is true as far as US supplies are concerned. From what I understand, Canadian sales will continue. It's disappointing news for sure

I just saw a reference to B Braun which made me wonder if this product still being sold in Canada or the United States. As I wrote in November 2019, B Braun stopped selling ostomy products in the US on Dec 31, 2019. Eric, you wrote that Canadian sales were apparently continuing at that time. However, I notice that, currently, their Canadian website at https://www.bbraun.ca/en/products-and-therapies.html includes no mention of any ostomy products.

Currently, B.Braun's Canadian website includes no mention of ostomy products, just as their US website includes no mention of ostomy products.

Hey Bob,

I do still see Flexima being sold at a few Canadian medical suppliers, but it wouldn't surprise me if the company eventually pulls out of the North American market.
