I have an ileostomy and I use the the Sensura Mio Click with the cohesive slims barrier rings from Convatec, I change my pouch every 12 to 15 days, my skin is very healthy, no leaking problems. Thank you for sharing your review.

So happy to hear that you've found a combination that works for you, Victor! Have a wonderful holiday!

I'm lucky if I get to 12-15 hours with a bag. Pan making is an issue for me and I was disappointment to see this bag makes it worse because everything else sounded so positive. I've an illeostomy and I also like to use the half moon things to help keep the bag on longer. Would you suggest I try this bag or am I wasting my time!! Thanks

Hi Adele, sorry to hear that :(

Changing to another appliance might help, but there are so many reasons why your bag won't stick or leaks, so it would be better to find the cause and correct it.

Have you seen this article on wafers not sticking?

https://www.veganostomy.ca/ostomy-appliance-wont-stick/

I did find that the 2pc Mio does stick better than the 1pc on my skin, so if you can get free samples, it might be worth trying.

Good luck!

Eric

I love this product. I especially like the waterproof pouch. I hate stepping out of the shower and the sopping wet bag is flopping around. I especially love the clickable closure.

I really with other pouch manufacturers change their fabric to be more like the Mio's! And you're right - having a wet bag after a shower isn't the greatest feeling in the world!

I have received samples of Mio Click pouches and wafers. I practiced clicking the pouch to lock it, but I can not get it to unlock. I've tried pushing the back side of the blue tab, but nothing gives or moves. Any advice?

Hey Alison, the Mio clicks are a little tricky to unlock, but pushing that button should do it - you may need to push along the side of the button, not just in the middle of it. Do you already have the appliance on or are you holding it in your hands when trying?

I am holding the appliance in my hand. Tried pushing on sides and middle, but nothing gives.

Strange! I'll see if I can take a quick video and post it somewhere.

Thanks. If I can't figure out, my ostomy meeting with the WOCN is Monday, so I can take it with me and find out what I'm doing (not doing). Appreciate all your help.

I've just added a video on how to snap the 2pc system together and how to use the locking mechanism :) I hope that helps.

It worked! I was pressing the back side (as the instruction sheet said to do), but I need to press the blue tab side -- and presto . . . it unlocked. That was really nice of you to make a video so I could see you do it. I have both a urostomy and a colostomy, vertically stacked, so will change out both tomorrow (from the Hollister product). And, I so look forward to showering and not having to "press and seal" and Hy Tape everything as the Hollister pouches get soaking wet and the wafer seals become compromised. Again, thank you!!

Yay!!! That's wonderful to hear!! Funny enough, the older Sensura Click has the button on the back - I wonder if they need to revise those instuructions!

If it's a Coloplast bag, make sure it's unlocked before you try to rotate it or else it won't budge.

My mom is a recent addition to the ostomate community, and I was able to get some samples of this product from Coloplast. I also ended up purchasing a box of the Mio One-Piece to test out.

My mom has had quite a few issues thus far with her ileostomy. She was in a rehab/skilled nursing facility after leaving the hospital, so she ended up with a lot of "mix n match" systems put on by personnel who were not at all familiar with ileostomies and issues with liquid output. Your site has been INVALUABLE to me. Since moving to Assisted Living, mom has begun to start learning how to empty her bag (she suffers some retention and memory issues due to a brain surgery some years ago). This is the first pouch system she's been able to open and close no problem. She essentially learned in one day - TODAY - how to empty this pouch pretty successfully, and she is able to close it and tuck the tail up inside the pouch without issue.

I'm still VERY new at putting her wafers on, so I can't say I have much experience, but the size of the two-piece is about perfect for her body size. She is very small-framed and has lost a lot of weight, but has quite a few folds that were making other wafers suffer many, many issues. So far we're at two days and everything is adhered as it should be (for us that might be a record). I tried putting on a one-piece last week and it leaked within a day. With that one I used barrier paste, with the two piece I tried an Eakin Seal (which seems to be working so much better). Any input on how one of those would work with the one-piece?

Thanks for your articles! I show them to my mom often and have supplied many of her nurses and aids with them. We like hearing "real world" experiences instead of simply another marketing ploy.

Hi Arminda,

I'm glad the site has been helpful!

One-piece appliances can be tricky to get on because you align them easily. If you are using an Eakin seal, you can apply it directly to the skin before the wafer goes on, or you can apply the Eakin seal directly to the back of the wafer and then put the entire appliance on the skin. I have photos of how I do this in this article: https://www.veganostomy.ca/guide-to-ostomy-barrier-rings/

Good luck, and let me know if you have any other questions! I would highly recommend posting questions on the community forums so that others may add more feedback and learn from the answers: https://www.veganostomy.ca/community/

Take care,

Eric
