ok so we all get in a pinch where we need supplies fast. Amazon has thier prime and fast delivery but is it worth it? I have purchased pouches that the ends were fused together when they are not supposed to be in the past and most recently I got an item, a Ostomy deodorant but not going to mention the name because I don’t feel it’s fair to taint that business when Amazon is the fault. But…. It was a different color, it smelled like Lestoil or pinesol slightly and it is supposed to be unscented. Well at first I did notice the slightly different color but thought nothing of it. I used it and I started getting this pinesol taste and smell in my nose. Thought it was something in the clients home. Used the bathroom about 4 times that night and used it. I Started feeling sick but still not putting it together. I go home and go to bed. I wake up vomiting in my sleep and it’s tasting if this pinesol/ lestoil whatever it is. Had diarrhea all day too.  Then I go to change my bag and I smell it like crazy and realize. I get the bottle and yes that’s it. I contacted the seller who was very upset and went out of their way refunding and sending me new plus extra on top of it.
I’m kind of red under my bag too so I’m trying to heal that skin up. We think Amazon sent me out something that someone else returned.
Yea, so if you need supplies order straight from a company or a medical supply company. Amazon cannot be trusted for things like this.

Wow Chelly!! Thats very scarey! But I think I would have called the Police before Amazon.  To me it sounds like someone is possibly stealing the liquid product & based on your reaction putting something else in the bottle. Sure Amazon will offer extra bcuz if something like that got out thats bad news all around for them.

I do want to say that I have found it very  interesting that with all the other safety caps & wraps applied to anything we use, either on food or meds why have some products that I use, like M9, NEVER protected their product as well.

That was a very serious reaction you had & if its not too late you may well want to reconsider NOT sending it back to Amazon & but letting the police handle it instead. If this happened to a child & a parent never picked up on it...... ugh!

I have been forced to use Amazon from time to time, especially at the beginning of my ostomy journey. Expired product seems to be the biggest problem. They will sell discontinued products no longer made as well. If I got a product that looked and smelled different than what I was used to, I'd probably contact the manufacturer, even submit the seller name and mail the product back to the manufacturer. Fake products could make you sick and should be reported!

@goatherder yes well, I contacted Amazon and they did not want to do anything. They told me to contact the seller who was the manufacturer. Says it should have no smell whatsoever and believes that Amazon sent me a bottle that someone returned. I deeply believe this. I know this manufacturer and have done business with them outside of Amazon and no way would they do that. I
Have bought from this manufacturer before from medical supply and never did this happen. It was so bad though I could taste it.
upon googling on this subject I have found that some third party sellers are putting poisonous stuff in the bottles. Even vitamins they say beware. I will never forget the time I ordered convatec bags on there and the ends of the bags were fused together. Not supposed to be in that product. Went to check reviews and other people complaining about the same and even posting the pictures.
I told Amazon and they said they would investigate however they never took that seller down. In fact the same seller was selling under different names as well. Had like 3 accounts. Sane problems being reported.

@dlkfiretruck it could be someone purposely tainting the bottles but it also could be someone wanting free product so they say something’s wrong with it and put the good stuff into  another container and then put some crap in the original bottle. Then Amazon sending it out to me when I made a purchase. Who knows but I was so sick from it. My skin is a mess and I have had no skin issues around my stoma in years! I actually need to pick up some domboro and some liquid skin to heal this thing.

That's awful.  I don't think I've ordered ostomy products from Amazon, since our local supplier offers free shipping.

I'd also contact the manufacturer of the product, not just the company it was sold by. If it's counterfeit, I'm sure they'd want to know.

Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate.

@veganostomy it was the manufacturer selling it and they were so upset. The owner said Amazon has a mind of thier own and believes they sent me a return from someone else. I’m glad you have a local supplier. I just wish they would not make this stuff so hard to get. Like I wish I could just drive to go get it when it’s emergent. I won’t be ordering off Amazon  any longer . Just going to make sure I’m always stocked up on what I need from now on.

For what it’s worth, I have ordered M9 deodorant drops through Amazon a few times, through a few different vendors, and have not had a problem. I do always look at the feedback that vendors have from other sales, no matter what I am buying. If I received anything that looked or smelled strange, like Chelly I would sure let them know!

@llholiday hi, I’m glad you had no issues. I have purchased  m9 off there before as well. In the past few years or so I have been having not so good experiences with personal care products from Amazon. I’ve gotten fake high end makeup, fake shampoo, those fused bags and now this. When I spoke to one American rep she said that some of the third party sellers can have bottles made up to look exactly like a product and put whatever they want in them. The only way Amazon knows is when customers start complaining. I’m not kidding a shampoo I bought that I regularly use burned my scalp and made a lot of hair fall out. Don’t  know what was in it. But they refunded me in that and I threw the bottle out.
I think I’ve learned my lesson. I’m just not ordering anything from there any longer after this last stint.

Would just like to ad here that it’s not nice to get fake products with toxic crap in it off Amazon but when it’s your Ostomy? Well, that’s just serious.

Good to know.  That's pretty scary.  I've only ordered rings and wafers from them so far this time around.
