I really enjoy potatoes, in all forms! haha! Peeled if necessary, since the skins will not break down in our stomach, but otherwise, they are cheap, nutritious, and filling.

Regarding zucchini, broccoli, cucumbers, and portulaca, while nutritious, they won't be very filling. I'd prefer to add those to a meal, rather than making them the meal.

Proteins help to make you feel full, longer. When you remove meat from the diet, you have to replace it with another protein.

My meals will generally include at least once source of protein: tofu, legumes, nuts/seeds, etc. We use a wide variety of beans and legumes to add more variety: lentiles, chickpeas, white and red kidney beans, fava beans, romano beans, black beans, etc.... loads of options, and they all taste different.

From time to time, we will add some faux meat to our meals (i.e. burgers, veggie ground, mock chicken nuggets, and so on), but we don't rely on those as they can be expensive.

I'd be happy to discuss this further in a separate thread (I can split this one up, so we don't have to start a new one). 👌

Hi,

I have not added legumes back into my diet yet. Nor many fresh leafy veg.

It is encouraging to see that people are eating these items without issues.

My biggest concern is getting a blockage, I know chew, chew, chew. UGH

Found out yesterday that bean sprouts are very stringy, had to pass on the egg foo yong and ended up peeling the eggplant in the other dish we ordered. Took much of the fun out of getting take away.

Along with adding protein to your meals, more fibre can help to feel more full... however, for someone with an ostomy, this can mean you'll be emptying your bag more often. You may be able to find a balance between convenience and satisfaction when it comes to meals.

How many meals and snacks do you generally eat in a 24h period?

question for you Eric how do you cope as a vegan ? The only thing I notice I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and apart of some smaller amounts of meat ive began cooking vegetables with eggs which seems to leave me more satisfied.
