I use an empty toilet paper roll to press down around my stoma after putting my appliance on, but I've used q-tips in the past to do the same so this pencil idea seems like a more environmentally-friendly way (no waste) to do it.

Thanks for sharing that tip!

Hi Folks, Just wanna share something I have been doing during my ostomy change. I wear a 2 piece and the bit between the ring of the wafer and stoma I always like to make sure it’s making contact all the way round. There ain’t always a lot of room and I would always use a cotton bud/Q tip to firm around. I have seen flexible devices for sale for this purpose. A few weeks ago I hadn’t any q tips to hand and was looking for something when it occurred to me 💡the pencil I use to mark the wafer has a round smooth top. It’s a brilliant job and also I now won’t have to use the buds and it’s wipe clean. Maybe this is something others have been doing.
