Looked up my nearest Trader Joes, Only 3000 Miles away lol. ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Hi John... I guess the shipping charges might pile up. I sure you will find something similar nearer to hand. I saw there is a new variety ( is that the right word?) of Vegemite coming to market. Something more upscale. ( HA.. I can't say I liked it ...even a bit... when I tried it 40 or so years ago). I would eat a deep fried Mars bar first ( no HAGGIS...Thats Scotts though, right?). Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012. Subtotal colectomy with illiostomy July 2015; Peristomal hernia repair ( Sugarbaker, mesh, laparoscopic) May 2017. Deep fried Mars bar is nearly more Scottish than Haggis, if you want to find something worst than vegemite google Iron Bru. Made in Scotland from girders! (Scottish Lemonade) And to really mix things up here in Northern Ireland we have Brown Lemonade. Ps I wish I was kidding!! ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Hi again. I HAVE read & enjoyed all the Ian Rankin novels with John Rebus ( detective mysteries). They all take place, as I am sure you know, in Edinburgh. And they allude to a lot of Irn Brew drinking I wasn't quite sure what it is .. seemed like a soft drink as Rebus was forever trying to give up drinking! Fun books. ( they actually wrote it in the books as Irn ?? go figure). Brown lemonade sounds dreadful. Still rather have chocolate...even fried. At the County Fair here one year they had on offer deep fried butter! ( healthy!). Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012. Subtotal colectomy with illiostomy July 2015; Peristomal hernia repair ( Sugarbaker, mesh, laparoscopic) May 2017. I switched from V8 to Sacramento brand vegetable drink . It is literally 1/2 price. $1.79 vrs 3.69 on the supermarket shelves. Same benefits, same ingredients as V8. Talk to your local dietitian or WOCN about it. They would likely pass it on, saving other ostomates a lot of painful grief. Remember, "MANURE HAPPENS ". Flattery will get you everywhere. I had to learn how to survive one misstep at a time. I have a miraculous liver transplant, a kidney transplant from an altruistic donor, lost my rectum to cancer, lost, in stages , around 4 meters of intestine due to Crohns disease. YET, I deliver food and cheer to Johns Hopkins Hospital patients who eat strictly Kosher diets. It is good to be on the giving end, not on the receiving end. I luv veggies BUTT.... I started with V8 this summer, to fight dehydration, and found that besides the chew, I wasn't suffering 3 hours later. I totally recommend v8 or a similar drink to anyone, but especially those who can't eat a lot of veg. It's one of my staples for recovering after a procedure fast, and it always tends to pick me up better than most other things when I'm tired due to dehydration. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Hi, Eric!!! I make Dolly Parton Soup which is all veggies (but it uses chicken broth - so you might want to use veggie broth). It's all veggies and I love the stuff! I make a great big soup pot full of it and then freeze it in 3-pound butter tubs. My husband and I will easily eat a whole tub of it in one sitting - it's that good! Tomatoes, onions, cabbage, green beans, carrots, green pepper (red and yellow too sometimes), chicken broth - and I rather imagine you could put whatever other veggies you wanted in it. I like it real thick - almost like a stew - and eat it often. It's one of those things that my body really likes, so I eat it at least once a week - usually more often than that. This is a great community forum and I love it. I know I get real chatty, but I can't help it. It feels like I'm sitting around talking with a bunch of good friends every time I visit!!!! Best wishes for continued success!!!! Although I joke about it Brown lemonade is actually really nice, Dolly Parton soup what a class name, and I agree soup needs to be thick. I know what you also mean about this forum when you start chatting on it you can,t stop. I work from home and can,t help when I am at my desk have a peep to see whats up. But sure ain,t that what its about air problems see how others cope help a fellow ostomate and most important have a laugh doing it. We have a paint Brand over here whos motto is "It does exactly what it says on the tin" That is what VO achieves. ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Oh lord, the WOCN pulled out the surgi-lube and lubed her little finger up. Once she managed to get it in it was like she was using a little plunger on the loo. So wierd to see a finger go in there. Guess I'll have to give V8 another try, never been a fan of it as a drink. I do like the other V8 drinks out there, just that tomato base does me in. Iceberg lettuce got me, one of the most non-nutritional vegetable out there. I'm a nearly darn raw veggie person, grew up picking veggies off the plants and eating them on the spot. I've ate cucumber slices pretty easily, have to watch out for the seeds though. That means I can continue to eat cucumber sandwiches!!! One of those light summer snack things husband and I love. Not sure about Sugar Peas or Sno Peas, love those raw with a little ranch yogurt. Crohn's Colitis, Ilieostomy, Proctocolectomy November 2017 Luv cucumbers, Nothing like picking fruit or veg fresh, my Grand Dad grew fruit and veg for a living and remember the smell inside his delivery van was unreal. he also smoked a pipe and the weird mix of tobacco and apples takes me back to my childhood. talk about form the healthy to the unhealthy. ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Guess I'll have to give V8 another try, never been a fan of it as a drink. I do like the other V8 drinks out there, just that tomato base does me in. Luv cucumbers, Nothing like picking fruit or veg fresh, my Grand Dad grew fruit and veg for a living and remember the smell inside his delivery van was unreal. My grandparents used to grow them in their backyard and I still remember the smells as I would pick them and eat them on the spot. To this day, cucumbers still remain a favorite for me. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. I make a similar kitchen sink soup, but I use a hand blender to make it "safe" . Since it's a soup, I am not looking for a crunch factor. I also, in a 10 quart pot, cook a box of pasta with 5 or six different cans of vegetables i.e. peas and carrots, potatoes, garbanzo beans, creamed corn, french cut etc. Etc ,etc. .I don't drain the cans. I fill with water or vegetable broth to cover +2 inches.salt, pepper and other spices to taste. It takes 15 - 30 minutes . Every thing gets nice and soft . Then I let it sit for the liquid to be absorbed by the pasta. I also use rice. I then put into plastic tubs and label the date. It can be in the fridge for 2 to three weeks. Makes a nice lunch or side for dinner. Oh boy that sounds good, and lots of crusty bread ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Zvitusk, that sounds wonderful! We don't make soups too often, but I think we'll change that this winter. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Hi, John! Google Dolly Parton Soup and you'll get the recipe. It's on-line and is fun to make - at least I think it is! You're going to LOVE it!!! Very delicious. Often I'll add diced up chicken or turkey - both are very good - just to give it a little different taste. We have several butter tubs in the freezer, but I know they won't last long!!! When you season your soup, add whatever you like until it tastes the way you like it. I add a little of this and a little of that but most always never the same spices for two batches of soup!!!! It's always a little different. Hi ya, When I heard the name I just had to Google and yep its their. And in the words of Dolly "And I e I will always love soup! We also make soup to freeze and this will be the lastest ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns

They should all be pretty healthy, although I'm not sure what they add to the fusion drinks (like any added sugar?). I also recommend trying different brands of vegetable juice - I found that while they share similar ingredients, they are often quite different from one another.
