I never really realized how much toilet paper us with ostomy's go through. I used to be at work for twelve hours a night, so I never paid much attention as I'd be using the toilet paper at work at night time.

Now that i'm retired, i'm spending way too much money on toilet paper. I can go through a 12 pack and and a half in 1 week. And sometimes more. It seems like I never stopped going.

there was always something in the pouch. Even though I rinse and get everything cleaned out as soon as I do it starts going again. I guess they have told me its high output ostomy. It's ridiculous.I feel like i'm spending all my money on toilet paper. I do rinse, but I have this thick output, and so I have to keep rinsing and use more toilet paper. Anyone else feel this way?

I've already gone through five rolls in two days. It's getting very bothersome expensive.

When I've been noticing is from time to time, it feels like I'm going on the other side. Like it feels like that stoma is still there and that its still having output and can feel it coming out. But that's impossible because they took that stone a down. I guess they would call it a phantom stoma. It's very strange though.

It is an investigational device and it's has something thats inserted into the stoma and then has washers like that you twist into. It works with a mio convex base plate. It has a cap so no need to wear a bag. When you empty ypu place a mio bag onto it and twist open and out put goes into the bag and you throw the bag out.

Has anyone heard of this or have experience with this new contraption?

Has anyone found a good soap to use to clean the ostomy area? They tell us no oils or moisturizer or fragrance should be in the soaps in order to get a good seal.

I used to be able to use ivory but they are now lifting oil in it as part of their fragrance. Dial white has also kicked up fragrance and moisturizer. Plain water doesn't cut it.

I'm really getting frustrated. The last hospitalization, they really dug trying to find answers . I'm malnutrition and acidy. They have really checked a whole lot of things but still.no clear cut answer. They do see a hernia in the left lower quadrant which is next to my stoma. I can visibly see that as well. I have a big piece of mesh across my abdomen and that will have to be cut through. I'm really scared about all of this. I hope my body can handle this surgery . I have faith in my surgeon that he will do his best but it's still all so scarey.

I saw my surgeon and we are going to open me up for sure. Have to set the date tomorrow. Hopefully it will give some answers to this uncomfortable and frustrating problem.

Hello friendly Ostomy Community,

I’ve been happily living with an ileostomy since late 2019. As of 3 weeks ago my father in law ended up with a double-barrel stoma. He suffered from serious constipation, leading to necrosis in the small intestine and now an ileostomy about 3 meter (10 ft) into the small intestine. He is in a regional hospital with limited experience in stoma aftercare.

With my ileostomy I can eat/drink pretty much everything and have no issue with nutrient absorption. I would love to hear from other ostomates that have an ileostomy about halfway into the small intestine and in particular whether you require different food and/or additional supplements.

The plan for him is to regain strength and either re-connect everything or create a colestomy. My concern is that without supplements he may not regain enough strength for the next surgery.

Appreciate any experience or insight.
