Hi Everyone!

I seem to be cursed. I've had to have a third surgery on my stoma (my hernia slammed over my stoma opening and would not release it) and as my intestines got so dialiated they had to do an emergency job to shave down the hernia to get it out of the way. Luckily the stoma wasn't affected but unluckily they could not fit a mesh because of the awkward position and because of my other medical issues (making a high risk of failure / rejection). So They've used surgical thread to graft my guts out of the way of my stoma and bolt them to my skin. Thankfully that seems to have solved things for the moment but now I have another issue.

Things were going well for a full month. I've been able to eat normal food without side-effects. Stoma is working as expected. But now out of no-where I've been purging a tonne of rectal mucas. It's not like I'd mind if it was an occasional thing that happened... but this is every time I eat (RIGHT after), and all through the day and night. I'm getting maybe 3-5+ cups of the stuff in 24 hours along with cramps so extreme it leaves me winded.

Saw my GP and she put me on antibiotics (thinking that it might be an infection as the guts might be inflamed catching something nasty) but no dice. Any thoughts? I've not been diagnosed with IBS, Crohns, UC, or any condition like it - and I've previously been tested for the full spectrum of those (and more).

After watching those videos, I went back to look at my food diaries. Much to my surprise, the “worst year of my life” was filled with many meals, often daily, containing nutritional yeast.

Now, I do consume the stuff these days, and haven't noticed any issues, but I'm going to be more mindful about it.

Hi Folks, I have been watching a programme with the above title. It’s basically all about healthy and not so healthy gut problems. It’s amazing what percentage of the population suffers from problems. In fact it said 1 in 350 people have a stoma half of those temporary but that’s still incredible to believe. Now that’s in the UK but am certain its similar all over. Also it had a Young girl featured who was living with crohns. The future with a bag terrified her (understandably) she was introduced to another girl her age. Both are 23 and the it was a real relief for the girl facing surgery to see and ask the questions she had. Shows how support and example can be so important. It’s a channel 4 program here in the UK. Definitely worth the watch if you can get it 👍

This is probably the most bothersome symptom I'm suffering from. My farts don't typically smell like 'farts,' they don't smell especially foul, but they have the exact same smell regardless of what I eat. And no, I do not typically pass more wind than any other point in my life.

I cannot describe it, but if I were to take a guess at what it is, I'd gander it's probably one of two things: the smell of wind that has passed through sick intestines (the smell of intestines) or possibly the smell of air that has been saturated with blood. It's a very sick kind of a smell, and I am not so much worried over this as I am bothered by the perplexity of it.
