I eat oatmeal on a regular basis without issues. Overnight oats, quick oats, and even steel cut (these are the hardest to digest unless cooked really well).

I suspect that if oatmeal is OK for you now (i.e. doesn't cause any strange laxative effect or gas), then I see no reason why it would be a problem after surgery. You might even prefer to use it if your output is loose/liquid, since it can help to solidify things.

I am 14 months since having a Colostomy. Can I have Cheerios with low fat milk?

Cheerios are very easy to digest, so this should be a very safe food.

The only cereal to be cautious of when trying it for the first time are the whole grain types with actual dry fruit or nuts, but even then, they should be safe for most. 👌

How are you doing with all foods? I know it can be tricky sometimes We like to tell people to take everything in moderation & increase slowly untill your sure what your guts are doing . Def. go slow but theres a whole world of food ahead of you. Watery fruits are great on top of or mixed in with a thicker food like granolla... just for careful back up! Lol!

I hope all goes well with a new try!
